As the saying goes “Time stands still for no man” and that is certainly true in this age of agricultural machinery development and certainly AMAZONE isn’t standing still with a whole host of new products to launch over 2016. Visitors to LAMMA 2016 will be the first to see many of them - either on the agricultural stand R33 or, again, AMAZONE Groundcare will be present in Hall 6 stand 681.
Catros+ 12003-2TS
The Catros family now has a big brother, the Catros+ 12003-2TS. With its 12 m working width and the possibility to turn on the roller, the Catros+ 12003-2TS is a specialist tool for quick, shallow stubble tillage, creating the ideal conditions for grass weed seeds and volunteers to germinate. This makes it ideal for larger farms and contractors who are looking to cover the ground fast in the fight to control blackgrass, or those looking for a shallow disc cultivator to fit in with their 12 m Con-trolled Traffic system. Despite its impressive working width, it neatly folds down to a compact transport width of 3 m as well as sporting a braking system on the transport axle.
Four segments make up the working width. Each segment is able to float independently from each other, using the new ContourFrame, giving excellent contour following. Hydraulic accumulators keep each segment firmly in contact with the ground.
Each of the 510 mm diameter serrated discs, which can work at depths from 5 to 15 cm and use the same tried and tested maintenance-free oil bath bearings that are in use on the rest of the Catros family, are individually suspended via rubber blocks, further improving its ground following characteristics.
Guide wheels at the front ensure that excellent contour following and a relatively short distance between the guide wheels and rear roller means any humps and hollows are easily tackled.
For following rollers either the KW 580 wedge ring roller or the new KWM 650 wedge ring roller with Matrix profile, which was seen for the first time at Cereals 2015.
When the going gets really tough, the Catros+ 12003-2TS can be folded down to a 7.0 m working width with the extra weight on the wings aiding penetration.
New AD-P Super ISOBUS power harrow drill combination
Cereals 2015 saw the launch of a new AD-P Special whereas at LAMMA 2016 will be the new high-speed AD-P Super ISOBUS combination, which is available in 3.0 or 4.0 metre working widths, and with a base hopper of 1,500 l that can be increased to 2,000 l.
Electric metering now comes as standard, as it does on the Special, and features the same new blower fan that is seen on the Cirrus 03 trailed drills. The new blower fan runs much quieter and requires a fraction of the oil needed from the out-going model meaning both more comfort and less tractor power required.
Speed source is either via radar, guide wheel, GPS or tractor source and is all controlled by a choice of either AMADRILL+ or ISOBUS. Calibration on either can be done at the press of a button in the cab. On the ISOBUS models, the new Comfort-Pack TwinTerminal 3.0 is available which offers a secondary terminal down at the metering roller so that all the calibration procedure can be done from ground-level. TwinTerminal 3.0 is held magnetically to the hopper and can be placed away in a safe position once the calibration procedure is finished.
The new RoTeC pro coulter is also now an option for the AD-P Super. Designed specifically to cope with the faster drilling speeds being employed today by farmers, the coulter, with a new seed entry pipe and furrow former, offers a radically improved seed placement and, with a new coulter pivot bearing, increasing longevity.
ISOBUS sowing technology
On AMAZONE sprayers and fertiliser spreaders, ISOBUS has been in place for quite some time. The experiences gathered here, have now been carried forward onto the seed drills. Clear, easy to recognise symbols and depending on the terminal, freely configurable user profiles, allowing operators to create a layout that suits their needs.
The ISOBUS seed drills can be operated with AMAZONE’s own AMATRON 3, CCI 100 and AMAPAD, or with any other ISOBUS compatible terminal. All AMAZONE ISOBUS machinery is supplied as ‘Ready’ for TaskController, BAS TaskController GEO and TaskController SC meaning documentation, variable rate and SectionControl are possible where the terminal used allows this function. All AMAZONE ISOBUS terminals include documentation as standard.
Further benefit of ISOBUS is the free programming of ISOBUS compatible AUX-N joysticks such as AMAZONE’s AmaPilot+ or the Fendt drive lever. Operators can carry out different functions, such as electric half-side shut-off, increasing or decreasing seed rate or stopping the metering unit for example, all from the press of a button on the joystick.
3rd generation ED precision seeder
The new ED03 range of air precision seeders will see all-new hydraulic singling and electric fertiliser metering drives to go alongside the already well-proven mechanical drive via land wheel. With a view to increasing productivity, the series of changes also sees seeding unit capacity increase by 25%, bringing them up to 60 l, new wheel track eradicators, with three coulter options to suit different soil types, new press roller options, increased fertiliser hopper capacity and a fertiliser calibration button on the tank, meaning a calibration can be done beside the machine without having to keep going back to the tractor cab.
Individual row shut-off, previously only available on the EDX precision drills, comes now across onto the whole ED range,. Automatic switching on and off of the sowing units can be done via GPS-Switch and is possible on both hydraulic and mechanically-driven models.
Introduced also as an important new feature on the ED is ISOBUS communication. As with AMAZONE's ISOBUS drills, fertiliser spreaders and sprayers, the ISOBUS ED can be used with AMATRON 3, CCI 100 or AMAPAD terminals as well as any other ISOBUS compatible terminal. For those who prefer a simple machine, the machine specific on-board terminal, AMASCAN+, is the preferred option where operators can still manually switch off individual rows as well as monitoring seed numbers.
SectionControl
Following on from the introduction of SectionControl via GPS-Switch for fertiliser spreaders back in 2007, LAMMA 2016 will see the next significant development from AMAZONE in part-width section shut-off. Previously SectionControl was only available on hydraulically-driven spreaders, with 6 sections on offer with the ZA-M Hydro and latterly 8 sections with the introduction of ZA-TS Hydro range. Now that 8 section basic part-width shut-off via SectionControl is now available on all ISOBUS PTO-driven ZA-V and ZA-TS spreaders which can be controlled either manually or automatically via GPS-Switch. However, on the ZA-TS Hydro, rather than stepping down in sections, this model now offers infinitely-variable step-less SectionControl, for even more precision when working in short work.
The new SectionControl for ZA-V and ZA-TS has the ability to control individual out-side part-width sections, similar to that of crop protection sprayer, by being able to switch sections off from left to right or vice versa by going through the middle.
So come and see us either on the agricultural stand which is R33 or maybe AMAZONE Groundcare who will be present in Hall 6: Stand 681
