LECTURA visited the STEYR Field Days 2019 in Sankt Valentin

LECTURA attended the STEYR Field Days 2019 event in Sankt Valentin on the 24^th and 25^th of July. The event started with a tour of the STEYR plant in St. Valentin. We had the opportunity to discover STEYR’s full product range with customer-oriented solutions and observe how the company’s tractors are brought to life.

The plant tour was led by an expert, production manager, who had a deep knowledge of all the processes. We walked throughout the entire manufacturing facility and observed all the operations in action, including the Research and Development department. It is interesting that the factory runs just one shift, starting in the morning and ending around 3 p.m. Nevertheless, according to the tour guide, the production output is sufficient.

After that, we moved into the Experience Center where we attended the STEYR press conference. The board of management revealed few product news such as the STEYR S-Brake, Q-KMS Camera System and STEYR Profi 6 Cylinder. Moreover, we were able to have a look at the STEYR Expert CVT range of tractors with continuously variable transmission. After the press conference, we conducted an interview with Christian Huber, Vice President Global Product Management of CASE IH and STEYR tractors.

The S-Brake is an innovative trailer brake system as the tractor trailer combination proved to be more stable. The system offers more control on slippery surfaces, improved driver comfort and is very easy to use as we experienced at first hand. The basic idea behind the braking system is to enhance safety driving with tractors and it is available for Terrus CVT, CVT and Profi CVT series.

The Q-KMS Camera System achieved the Demopark Silver-medal for outstanding technology, because it provides a great view into crossroads and street entrances, erasing the tractor’s blind spots.

STEYR 6145 Profi is a compact 6-cylinder tractor equipped with 6.7 litre FPT engine, rated at 145 hp (max. power 175 hp). The compact design combined with one of the three choices of transmission offers maximum versatility and manoeuvrability.

The STEYR Expert CVT was a highlight of the press conference. The newest tractor range is equipped with 4-cylinder Stage V compliant engines, rated from 100 to 130 hp. The continuously variable transmission is capable of automatic range change under full load and holds the tractor stationary with/without load. The operator’s environment is enhanced with brand new multicontroller II armrest with configurable buttons and joystick. Together with the S-Tech solution telematics, the series offers premium comfort in compact size.

The following day was all about the Ride&Drive experience. The organizers set three stations around the field location, representing various agricultural jobs: field work, loader work and transport. We tried different tractor configurations and attachments, while learning all the important information from willing STEYR experts.
