Linde provides a cool solution for Casepak

Casepak is one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management companies with two facilities in Leicester. The business has grown significantly since 1973, and retains the same ethos now as it did then – delivering excellent customer service and innovative recycling solutions through locally focused development.

At their collection and processing facility, Casepak recently invested in three Linde EVO counterbalance trucks of 4.5 tonnes capacity (H45D). Equipped with the Linde original hydrostatic transmission and factory supplied recycling protection pack, makes this truck perfectly suited to the requirements of a busy recycling facility. However, this was not the reason Casepak selected Linde over their incumbent supplier. Casepak undertook a series of demonstration’s and tests to ensure their investment into the new equipment would be the right one.

Like any working environment operating forklift trucks there can be risks, and these can vary depending on the application. Recycling plants have particularly strict safety requirements, which is why Casepak undertook testing of the Linde H45D during the summer months when over-heating has been a problem in the past. The engine block, transmission and exhaust manifold which are key hot-spots, were surface temperature tested under full operating conditions. The most significant test was on the drive unit where the Linde truck was over 50 degrees cooler than the competitor truck also under test.

In addition to these tests, the Linde H45D came out far more cost effective in terms of fuel, tyres and parts. Tests revealed that the Linde H45D would save Casepak 20% on fuel and the tyres would last almost twice as long.

Tests revealed the Linde truck offered more protection from the usual hazards associated with operating forklift trucks in a recycling facility. The Linde H45D equipped with the recycling pack and cooler operating temperatures has significantly improved safety, increased reliability and reduced our overall operating costs significantly”.
