logitrans 2012 ends with a new record number of visitors

The 6th logitrans Transport Logistics Exhibition closed its doors after three days on Saturday, November 17, 2012 after having attracted more than 12,600 visitors from 53 countries. Compared with the previous event, the number of visitors therefore rose by six percent. The exhibition was staged jointly for the second time by Messe München International and EKO Fair Limited.

In addition to the number of visitors, exhibitors were primarily impressed by their internationality and expertise. This opinion was also shared by Karsten Sachsenröder, CEO of Ahaus Alstätter Eisenbahn Holding AG in Switzerland: “With its potential and links to Central Europe, the Turkish market is vitally important for us in our capacity as the market leader for the hire of intermodal goods wagons. After attending logitrans for the first time, we were therefore delighted with its international character and the number of highly promising contacts.”
Stephan Ruppert, Product Manager of the PTV Group in Germany, confirmed: “The contacts which we established are extremely promising while the large number of decision-makers was very pleasing. We were especially surprised by the keen interest in our software solutions for road freight transport and the quality of the discussions with representatives of numerous Turkish and international companies.”

A total of 194 companies from 16 countries presented their products and services along the entire value-added chain in logistics, telematics and transport on an exhibition area of 11,500 square meters. With 94 international companies, the proportion of foreign exhibitors was just under 50 percent. Exhibitors also came for the first time from India, Jordan, New Zealand, Sweden and Slovenia. The top 5 exhibitor countries were Turkey, Germany, Italy, Austria and Latvia. Faysal Yalınkılıç, Strategic Planning and Marketing Manager, from Omsan Lojistik in Turkey drew some very positive conclusions: “We are pleased to see that the interest in the exhibition is increasing every year. Thanks to EKO and MMI, a long-cherished dream has become true and Turkey has obtained an exhibition which complies with European standards. The presentation ceremony for the logistics prizes, which was held concurrently with the exhibition, closes an important gap in the industry.”

In particular, the unique location of Turkey was the main reason why the exhibitors took part in logitrans 2012. Andreas Bullwinkel, Managing Director of Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH in Germany made the following statement: “It is very important for seaports in Lower Saxony to show their colors on the Turkish market at an early stage in order to establish themselves as the interface between the increasing flows of goods. In addition to the domestic market in Turkey, we are particularly interested in Turkey’s hub function as a gateway to the Middle East.”
Dr. Roberto Perrocchio, Managing Director of Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A. from Italy, also concurred: “Our new Venice Ro-Port Project is right in the middle of being launched on the market. The link between Turkey and Venice has crucial strategic importance in this respect. This is the reason why we attended logitrans“.

The next logitrans Transport Logistics Exhibition will be held in Istanbul from November 21 to 23, 2013.
