Running from March 8th to 10th in Stuttgart, Germany, LogiMAT - the 14th International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow - scored a new record in terms of the number of visitors and exhibitors and amount of display space sold. Occupying over 800 square metres of space at two separate booths, Jungheinrich - the event's biggest exhibitor - highlighted its extensive intralogistics solutions competence, including numerous innovations and ground-breaking products and solutions.

“Our successful appearance at the trade fair was underscored by the excellent visitor response, confirming our premium offerings in the market for intralogistics solutions,” commented Dr Lars Brzoska, Jungheinrich Board of Management member in charge of Sales, as he praised both the high calibre of visitors and business conversations at the show.

A special magnet consisted of the company's presentation of its new EKX 516 narrow-aisle forklift. A special test course was set up to provide live demonstrations of the EKX in action, and tradeshow visitors were able to try out the new assistance systems and performance modules in test drives. Another highlight involved the Jungheinrich Auto Pallet Movers (APM), which were viewable in action on a 70 square metre large demo area. And interested visitors were able to experience the ease and ergonomics of operating the automatic Jungheinrich LRK lift racking system by ordering and picking information materials themselves.

New lithium-ion vehicles boast extremely compact dimensions

LogiMAT's role as a barometer for the latest trends was underscored by the numerous innovations on display at the Jungheinrich booth. This included the world's shortest stacker, the EMD 115i equipped with lithium-ion technology. Designed for use in retail and warehouse settings, this truck - with a load capacity of 1,500 kilogrammes - embodies Jungheinrich's new design concept, which is characterised by an extremely compact size and very small turning radius. Weighing just 14 kilogrammes, the truck's 40 Ah battery is fast and easy to charge using the built-in charging device. The battery's short recharging times make the truck highly available and ideally suited to two and three-shift operations.

“More than 85 percent of our fleet is already lithium-ion ready,” explained Brzoska. “In designing our new EMD 115i we capitalised on the narrow dimensions of the lithium-ion battery to create a new, shorter vehicle design. Over the coming year Jungheinrich will be introducing additional series-produced vehicles featuring lithium-ion- technology,” he continued, with a nod to the company's upcoming tradeshow appearances at bauma in Munich and CeMAT in Hannover.

At its stand in the trade fair's “software hall” - hall 7 - Jungheinrich showcased its Warehouse Management System, designed especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. The modular Jungheinrich WMS Series 2 system allows the user to manage any type of warehouse - whether manual or automated - optimising travel routes and storage access in the process. Apart from the low price, this solution is convincing thanks to its easy integration with any existing system environment and short implementation times.
