Manitowoc highlights latest Grove range at customer event

Manitowoc welcomed more than 25 guests to a customer event at its factory in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, to present its new and existing Grove range. The occasion took place on September 14th, with several crane owners from Poland travelling to attend the event.

The visitors had an opportunity to see an array of Grove cranes that feature innovative technologies and industry-leading capabilities, including the GMK3060, GMK4100L-1, GMK5150 and the GMK5150L that feature new taxi configurations for more efficient road travel.

When working in their taxi configuration, Grove cranes can go from job site to job site with no need of trailer, saving considerable setup time and costs. These cranes stand out due to an ideal combination of compact design and impressive roadable counterweight.

Guests also took a factory tour that showcased the company’s production and testing capabilities. Many of them had hands-on time with the cranes to explore their features. The MegaDrive hydrostatic drive and self-rigging MegaWingLift attachment, for example, were both put through their paces by attendees. After the tour, visitors gathered close to the facility’s test pad for a working demonstration of a GMK6400.

“Our GMK6400 is the strongest six-axle crane in the world and thanks to its innovative design, the 400 t capacity crane always delivers outstanding financial returns for our customers,” said Klaus Kröppel, vice president of sales for mobile cranes in Europe & Africa at Manitowoc.

The GMK5250L was a big attraction at the event, with its efficient maneuverability and class-leading driver comfort. The crane is the first in its field to feature VIAB turbo clutch and integrated retarder that eliminates both fluid overheating and clutch burning, as well as increasing fuel efficiency. This increases ROI for customers and helps bolster their bottom lines. The 250 t capacity crane offers the best load charts in its class and also features an impressive 70 m boom.

“The event was a great opportunity to see the latest cranes firsthand and to be able to look inside and touch them,” said Marcin Zielonka, partner at Dzwigi Mazowsze. “We plan to grow our fleet with Grove cranes to keep up with the developing crane market in Poland. In addition, they will help our business increase ROI because they are cheap to run combined with their heightened reliability.”
