The seventh of a nine-part megaproject series takes us to the arctic town of Kiruna, busy relocating to avoid being swallowed up by the world’s largest iron-ore mine. In this installment, we meet the architect behind the relocation of Sweden’s northernmost city.
“When you start to move a city, I think it’s important to understand that it’s really the move of the community that is the most difficult,” says Krister Lindstedt, the lead architect of White architects, the Stockholm-based firm tasked with the challenge of moving the city of 23,000 residents safely away from the sinking city.
