The complete range is based on safety, effi ciency versatility and comfort which the entire Merlo philosophy is based upon and it has always been the “miles stones” for its success all over the world since the company was established by Mr Amilcare Merlo in 1964.

As far as the novelties are concerned Merlo launches at Bauma both new machines, new systems based on advanced technology and Stage 3B/Tier 4 interim engine generation.

PANORAMIC 50.8 - NEW H-D TELEHANDLER WITH STATE-OF-THE ART SPECIFICATIONS -
It represents a big step ahead as far as multipurpose telehandler is concerned, since it is the fi rst one to be conceived with a modular approach, which will be adopted by Merlo in the future. The Panoramic 50.8 is a new Heavy-Duty telehandler equipped with a Stage IIIB /Tier 4 int. 90 kW - 122 HP 3.6 litre Deutz engine. It can lift up to 5 tons and can reach 8 meters height. It is offered with a complete attachments range dedicated to H.D. handling.

NEW SUSPENDED CAB - MORE VISIBILITY AND SUPER COMFORT -
It is equipped with a new roomy cab which offers 360° visibility and a sky-view front windscreen. It has been designed and conceived by Merlo Engineering dept and is based on automotive standard as far as CAN-bus protocol, control panel, dual-stage heating system are concerned. It is also equipped with a dual reverse shuttle system located on the joystick as well as on the steering wheel column. The cab is suspended by means of an hydro-pneumatic system which increases the operator’s comfort level, particularly appreciated by drivers who have to spend many hours on the machine and travel on unlevel ground. The system can be switched On/Off by the operator. For the time being it is the only suspended cab available on the market as far as telehandlers are concerned, that confi rms how comfort is important for Merlo.

TRANSMISSION AND EPD SYSTEM - BOOSTS PRODUCTIVITY AND SAVES FUEL -
As far as the transmission and safety devices are concerned the Panoramic 50.8 offers the new M CVTronic transmission, designed to reach 50 Kph along with the EPD – Eco Power Drive – system. The latter is the only system available on the telehandlers market that proved to save fuel. It is equipped with a wireless gas pedal connected to the EPD electronic box which manages the diesel engine rpm according to fuel-saving parameters installed in the electronic box. The EPD minimizes fuel consumption and maximizes performance. Practical tests show a saving of 3,000 liters on 1,000 hrs annual usage, which represents more than 3,600 Euros saved annually.

MAXIMUM SAFETY BEYOND EN15000 - MERLO PATENTED FOR MAXIMUM SAFETY -
Merlo has always supported safety standards, so he designed and patented the M CDC system adopted on Panoramic 50.8 as well on most of his telehandlers. The “Dynamic front stability control” is always operative and it is fully automatic. It is practical and allows quick maneuvers. It offers safety standard levels that go beyond current EN15000. The operator’s interface is user-friendly and shows suitable information on an 8.5” color display located in the cab. When driving backwards the rear working area is shown on the screen by a camera to further increase safety standard.

ROTO RANGE - Slewing telehandlers -
Merlo is one of the telehandlers manufacturers who invested in the ROTO series with the intent to provide suitable machines dedicated to the construction sector, designed to provide high degree of performance and versatility in full safety. The ROTO range consists of three different families, according to the slewing turret, named 400°, 600° and M CSS – Merlo constant slewing system – .

ROTO 40.30 and ROTO 60.24 are also equipped with the EPD – Eco Power Drive – system, studied, developed and patented by Merlo. EPD will be gradually installed on the majority of Merlo products to ensure both fuel saving and full performance. It is an innovative system and a state-of-the art solution, unique on the market.

The ROTO family consists of 14 models, 5 as far as 400° series is concerned , two 600° series and 7 as far as the
“constant slewing system” is concerned. It is the most comprehensive range available and it is designed to meet any construction and rental market requirements.

2013 models year offer the following features and advantages:
The ROTO S 600° models are equipped with a new cluster conceived with both analogical instrument panel and a
digital display for better operator interface. The whole ROTO M CSS range is equipped with the following specifi cations already offered on the ROTO 40.30 and ROTO 60.24, considered as the “Flag Ships” of the family:

  • Auto-stabilization system: it also allows the operator to set each stabilizer according t o the available working area around the machine. The system will automatically take the new stabilized area into consideration and calculate the dynamic safety in real time.
  • New hydraulic system: a variable displacement pump with load sensing will be adopted as well as a fl ow sharing main valve for greater performance and productivity.
  • New hydraulic pipes layout: for easy maintenance.

P40.17
The P40.17 is very popular in the construction business. In order to keep it at high competitive level Merlo will provide it with the following new specifi cations:

  • The M CDC system provides a load weighting function - please read the next M CDC paragraph for further information-
  • New hydraulic valves and electrical wires to improve ser viceability
  • New joystick electro-mechanic actuated. More user-friendly
  • Adoption of the so called “dead man switch” located on the joystick to ensure further safety.
  • Reverse shuttle located on the joystick as well as on the stee ring column. Better ergonomics.
  • New M CDC – Dynamic load control – system. Provides maximum safety in real time and the display shows sui table information to the operator so that he can take quick decisions.

M CDC - MERLO “M CDC” GOES BEYOND EN 15000 SAFETY STANDARD -
As far as safety is concerned Merlo has patented three projects now integrated in the M CDC - Merlo dynamic load
control system -. It is adopted in base machine on the majority of the Merlo telehandler models and it works automatically, so that it cannot be switched off, offering in this way the maximum safety standard as possible. First of all any implement manufactured by Merlo Group bears a sensor on which is stored the necessary information about the implement’s main features. Once it is connected to the telehandler tool carrier the system detects the implement type, its specifi cations and loads the relevant load chart into the M CDC system. In this phase the M CDC is fully operative. On the display are shown the most important parameters useful to the operator, such as stability index, max admissible load and geometrical confi guration.

On a second frame the operator can read the weight and zero the tare. For continuous loading operations the weight fi gure shown on the display can either be manually memorized by a button, or automatically memorized by simply set the boom angle, beyond which it will be memorized. At the end of the shift the operator can get the total weight fi gure. The system shows the string concerning each single weight loaded. The 2013 M CDC version has been upgraded and offers max safety and more speed in order to maximize performance. The system recognizes dynamic operations as well as the static ones.

On the latter a bright spot will be shown on the screen like a traffi c light. When it turns from yellow to red any movement is automatically blocked because the machine has reached its critical point. When it happens the operator can retract the boom and carry on the job again. For dynamic operations with bucket for instance, the new parameters installed in the M CDC allow quicker operations in order to maximize productivity in spite of the red spot shown on the screen. The new allowance ensures always the maximum safety. A rear camera is also available. When driving backwards the rear working area is shown on the screen. The operator has a perfect rear view for better maneuverability. Obstacles can be spotted to further increase safety standards.

MM120 MC and MM160 MC NEW TOOL CARRIER
New tool carriers denominated MM120MC and MM180MC represent one of the Merlo novelties shown at Bauma, both models will be soon cut-into production.
