Mexico receives its first Grove GMK6400

Latin America’s first Grove GMK6400 all-terrain crane arrived in Mexico to great fanfare. Tlaquepaque-based TRACSA, a leading construction equipment distributor in the country, delivered the 400 t (450 USt) capacity crane to Auriga Gruas earlier this year. Auriga representatives said the crane will be a valuable asset in Mexico’s thriving energy sector, mainly working in wind farm installation and maintenance applications. Armed with the best load chart in its class, the GMK6400 is the strongest six-axle all-terrain crane on the market, carrying 60 m (197 ft) of main boom. Its innovative systems, such as the self-rigging MegaWingLift capacity enhancing attachment and MegaDrive, the conventional/hydrostatic driveline, lead the market. The GMK6400 is easy and fast to rig, too; its 79 m (259 ft) of luffing jib serves as a fixed jib and it has a self-rigging auxiliary hoist. Additionally, the crane’s single-engine powers both the carrier and superstructure, reducing overall weight and improving fuel economy.
