MULTITAST – 25 % less dirt in your forage

MULTITAST jockey wheel – unique to Pöttinger rakes

There is no way round it; for optimum ground tracking you have to have a jockey wheel in front of the rotor. Pöttinger calls this the MULTITAST system. The MULTITAST wheel is located just in front of each rotor close to where the tines contact the ground. As a result, the tines are perfectly guided over the terrain, considerably reducing contact with the ground. This ensures optimum protection for the rotor cam unit, tines and sward. Damaging the sward would encourage more weeds, cause more dirt to enter the forage and, at the same time, would reduce harvest volume. Thanks to the smooth running of the rakes, top raking quality can be delivered at speeds of up to 15 kph. Harvesting machinery in the next pass can achieve higher performance because the swaths are intact and can be picked up more efficiently. That is a major contribution to increasing productivity.

The DLG Fokus Test 11/13 with a TOP 762 C centre-swath rake confirms that the MULTITAST wheel ensures perfect ground tracking and clean forage. The rotor with the MULTITAST wheel causes around 25 % less raw ash/contamination in the forage. 2.3 % more raw ash means up to 207 kg dirt/ha for a yield of 90 dt DM/ha. (Raw ash content with MULTITAST: 10.1 %, without MULTITAST 12.4 %.)

The advantages of the MULTITAST system are clear:

  • Optimum smooth running

  • Rotors follow terrain contours -> optimum ground tracking

  • Contamination dramatically reduced - especially in toughs

  • No raking losses on crests
