New Business Development Manager for Monitoring at Topcon

CAPELLE AAN DEN IJSSEL, The Netherlands, 11th March 2014 - Jim Woodhams joins Topcon Corporation as  senior business development manager for monitoring.

Woodhams will be responsible for supporting the expansion and growth of Topcon’s monitoring business activities, as well as supporting the development of Topcon hardware and software monitoring solutions.

Ian Stilgoe, director of geomatics, said “By bringing Jim into this new role, Topcon is demonstrating its commitment to our monitoring solution customers.

As a Chartered Land Surveyor, Woodhams has been involved in the surveying and monitoring industries for almost 30 years, gaining experience in the field throughout the world.

Graduating from the University of Manchester (UK) with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Geography, he also completed a diploma in Management Studies from the University of Reading (UK) in 1999.

Woodhams started surveying in the late 1970s, carrying out many different roles including two years at CERN, surveying and navigation services for oil and gas exploration projects in Europe, the United States and  Africa, as well as undertaking high precision monitoring and geodetic projects.

Between 1988 and 2010, he worked with Thames Water Utilities Ltd in London, UK in a number of senior technical, ICT and site survey management roles, including being seconded to the Metronet Rail Consortium, working to deliver a long-term asset maintenance and renewal contract for London Underground.

Prior to joining Topcon, Woodhams worked for Topcon partner itmsoil as project manager, group business systems manager, and  technical services director. He was also responsible for overseeing the integration of Topcon MS AX monitoring total stations into itmsoils workflows.
