New CV tire sizes from Continental: HTL2 and HTR2 carrying the weight in bulk transport

Hanover, July 20, 2011. The latest generation of 17.5-inch Continental tires is particularly suited to volume-optimized trailers with interior heights up to 3 meters and also to low-loaders. Like all tires from the second series, this generation boasts economic performance thanks to low rolling resistance and high mileages.

Continental’s HTL2 low-section tire for use on volume-optimized vehicles is a specialist for long distances. The latest member of the successful second generation was specifically developed for use on high-volume semitrailers and space-optimized trailers.

The new tread on the HTL2 with its narrow longitudinal grooves and wide, closed shoulders ensures low rolling resistance. A deep tread, the high side stability of the casing and the rubber compound, which was specially developed for this task, also contribute to substantial fuel savings in everyday use. The tire life, which has been extended considerably compared with the predecessor, makes the new low-section tire one of the most economic complete solutions in its class.

The HTR2 is the regional counterpart of the HTL2 long-distance tire. Its impressive high load-bearing capacity can be employed on a range of surfaces. A special tread design with blocks and narrow grooves guarantees very good directional control and prevents trapped stones even on loose surfaces. The shape of the tread grooves ensures very quiet running and low wear even in the toughest conditions. The new HTR2 is a universal low-loader tire that combines a high level of economy with long life and an extremely high level of safety.

Like all tires from the second generation, the new retreadable tires for volume semitrailers and low-loaders have innovative design features like a four-ply triangular belt, a reinforced steel cord bead and the AirKeep® inner-liner against loss of inflation pressure.

The new HTL2 tires for volume-optimized long-distance transport are available in the sizes 245/70 R 17.5, 215/75 R 17.5 and 235/75 R17.5. The new HTR2 for use in regional transport and on low-loaders comes in the sizes 205/65 R.17.5, 215/75 R 17.5 and 235/75 R 17.5.
