New Demag AC 500-8 all terrain crane for Neeb

Wuppertal-based crane service provider Neeb is expanding the Demag contingent in its fleet: Not only did the company take delivery of a Demag ® CC 3800-1 lattice boom crawler crane with the new, longer Boom Booster for a maximum system length of 183 meters last November, but it followed this up with a brand new AC 500-8 all terrain crane at the end of July.

“With its default configuration, the CC 3800-1 is already an extremely powerful crane when it comes to performance characteristics, but the new Boom Booster takes things to a whole new level. In fact, we’ve already been able to see that for ourselves several times when we had to lift heavy loads to very large heights. The good experiences we’ve had with the CC 3800-1 mean that we’re really excited about our new Demag AC 500-8,” General Manager Armin Neeb says. This is also why he made absolutely sure not to miss out on picking up his latest Demag acquisition in person in Zweibrücken.

The new machine was handed over by Terex Cranes Sales Manager Helge Prüfer and Senior Sales Manager Christian Kassner. “There were several reasons why we decided on the Demag AC 500-8, with one of them being the fact that the crane is the most compact eight-axle unit of its class thanks to a carrier length of just over 17 meters. Together with a maximum system length of over 145 meters, this made the unit not only incredibly versatile, but also perfect for our purposes – especially whenever large lifting capacities are required in tight spaces,” Armin Neeb explains. Another factor that helped is the crane’s innovative IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates the crane’s lifting capacity for every boom position as a function of the superstructure’s slewing angle in real time, making it possible to achieve increased lifting capacity. Other engineering features that increase the crane’s lifting capacity include a main boom cross section designed to improve stability, the reinforcement provided by the Sideways Superlift system, and star-type outriggers, which come as standard.

“The fact that someone with extensive experience in the field of cranes like Mr. Neeb appreciates these advantages is something that we’re naturally very proud of. We completely agree that the Demag AC 500-8 was the best possible choice he could have made for his purposes,” Helge Prüfer says.
