New Hitachi ZX145W-6 offers advanced technology without compromising on easy operation

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has launched the ZX145W-6 short-tail swing wheeled excavator. Designed and engineered to meet the requirements of general construction companies and contractors, it is exceptionally versatile. With a small swing radius of 1.85m at the rear, the compact model is suitable for a wide range of job sites, particularly where space is limited. It is ideal for working in urban areas and on road construction and maintenance projects. It also offers industry-leading technology, without compromising on easy operation.

Hitachi wheeled excavators share the same qualities as the company’s crawler models, such as high-quality engineering, reliability and durability. With incredibly versatile features, they are suitable for a wide range of industry solutions.

The ZX145W-6 has been designed with more than 100 updates, from tiny seals and 0-rings to the reinforcement of the upper structure, boom and arm system, and incorporating new engines with Stage IV technology. These improvements combine to provide better performance and increased efficiency, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership.

The ZX145W-6 is equipped with Hitachi’s unique HIOS IV hydraulic system. This reduces the amount of hydraulic oil returned to the tank due to the cooperative control of the pump and valve, and results in excellent efficiency. The Zaxis-6 wheeled excavator is fitted with a powerful new engine, which helps to boost productivity by 9%. It also has an improved travel speed, with 35% faster acceleration (0-30km/hr) than the previous model.

Another example of advanced technology is an after-treatment device that results in fewer emissions, ensuring compliance with EU Stage IV regulations. Noise levels are also reduced by the device, which consists of a DOC (diesel oxidation catalyst), SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system and silencer. The SCR system injects urea through a mixing pipe into exhaust gas to reduce nitrous oxide. The ZX145W-6 is also fitted with a DPF system that further reduces exhaust gas emissions.

The new Zaxis-6 wheeled excavator incorporates high-quality components such as the in-cab console, which is made of highly durable AES-grade resin that resists damage from UV rays. The brackets on the boom end and foot are equipped with bushings to withstand working for long periods in tough environments. The reinforced chassis adds to the durability of the ZX145W-6. Further evidence of durability is the larger blade cylinder cover and reinforced outrigger cylinder cover.

Demonstrating the new model’s versatility, the tilting rotator and tilting bucket modes are included within its attachment support system. These two and nine other modes can be registered on the monitor for easy fitting of attachments. The redesigned counterweight features LED in the tail lights, providing better visibility in poor light and requiring less maintenance.

“The ZX145W-6 is the ultimate universal working machine. It is exceptionally versatile and easy to use around a variety of job sites, particularly where space is limited,” says Burkhard Janssen, General Manager Product Management & Engineering at HCME. “Its compact dimensions are combined with a powerful lifting force and excellent stability.”
