New Hitachi ZX160LC-6 is exceptionally versatile without compromising on performance

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has launched the ZX160LC-6 medium excavator. Designed and engineered to meet the demands of the European construction industry, it is compact and lightweight, and does not compromise in terms of performance and durability.

The ZX160LC-6 benefits from the same advanced technology as larger Hitachi models. It also shares the same high-quality engineering and durable components, and offers outstanding levels of reliability. It is an exceptionally versatile machine and ideally suited to difficult working environments, such as soft terrain or rocky ground in mountain areas.

The ZX160LC-6 features the HIOS IV hydraulic system, which reduces total hydraulic loss and helps to lower fuel consumption by 8% (in PWR mode) with the same levels of productivity as the previous model. The new medium excavator is also equipped with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that injects urea into exhaust gas to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

Like all Zaxis-6 models, it incorporates more than 200 redesigned features and improved components. For example, it has a wide-opening engine cover allowing quick access and easy maintenance, and the main fuel filter is easy to replace. The expansion tank is mounted on top of the engine’s cooling system to prevent engine parts from overheating.

The durability of the ZX160LC-6 is enhanced by the redesigned lower roller. This prevents mud from entering and causing damage to the oil seal. Covers on the platform walkway have also been reinforced, which contributes to the machine’s safe working environment.

Designed to offer a superior performance, the ZX160LC-6 is built with high-quality components and materials. Inside the cab, the console is made of durable AES-grade resin to prevent damage from ultraviolet rays, and the ergonomic controls and advanced music system contribute to the ultimate working environment.

A popular choice for a wide range of construction applications, the ZX160LC-6 is incredibly versatile. It delivers an enhanced level of excavating performance and lifting power thanks to the power-boost feature. Attachments are easy to fit and replace thanks to the attachment support system. This includes tilting rotator and tilting bucket modes, and nine other modes, which can be registered on the monitor. Two extra spools in the control valve make it easier to install attachments that require multiple, large volumes of oil. They also make it easier to install attachments on two-piece boom models.

“The ZX160LC-6 has been designed to be a user-friendly and versatile machine,” says Burkhard Janssen, General Manager Product Management & Engineering at HCME. “It has been developed to perfection, using market-leading technology, to deliver exceptional productivity at the lowest possible cost of ownership.”
