“New Holland recognizes the importance of protecting our nation’s farmland for generations to come,” said Mark Hooper, New Holland’s Senior Director of Marketing in North America. “The bicyclists and volunteers that participate in Pedal to Preserve and Farm to Fork Fondo recognize the importance of our farmland, too. For that reason, we do what we can to assist them in gaining the support they deserve.”

Pedal to Preserve

In Lancaster County, Pa., the Lancaster Farmland Trust hosted its annual Pedal to Preserve bicycle ride on June 6, 2015. Each year, Pedal to Preserve offers both novice and experienced cyclists an opportunity to ride along marked routes throughout Lancaster County’s pastoral countryside that feature more than 75 small family farms thave have been preserved with the help of the Lancaster Farmland Trust.

“We are very grateful to have New Holland Agriculture back as the title sponsor for our annual bike ride,” said Karen Martynick, Executive Director of the Lancaster Farmland Trust. “With New Holland’s generous support, Pedal to Preserve has grown into one of the premiere bike rides in the region. We are also excited to have the New Holland team back to ride in the event again this year. The support the employees provide make the event even more special!”

As the title sponsor for Pedal to Preserve, New Holland assembled a team of approximately 80 employees to participate as cyclists in this year’s ride. Each of the event’s three course options (51 miles, 20 miles, and 6 miles) began and ended in New Holland, Pa., the home of New Holland’s North American headquarters and the site of its haytools manufacturing plant and engineering center.

Proceeds from Pedal to Preserve help to preserve Lancaster County farmland by assisting landowners in placing a conservation easement on their property, which limits the ability to subdivide and build on the property. Farm to Fork Fondo, Orange County

Farm to Fork Fondo, a production of Wrenegade Sports, aims to support farms and farm organizations in the Northeastern United States. There are currently two Fork to Fork Fondo rides scheduled for this summer. The first will be in Orange County, New York on June 28 and the second in Vermont on July 12.

“As cyclists, it is natural for us to support land owners who are able to preserve the open space that we enjoy so much on our bicycles and who use that land to grow food that can make us better athletes and healthier people,” said Tyler Wren, founder of Wrenegade Sports.

It is widely known that the success of endurance sports event can be credited to the dedication of its volunteers. For this reason, New Holland is pleased to sponsor the Farm to Fork Fondo volunteer competition. Each of the volunteer teams will choose to represent a farm or farm-related organization and will support the cyclists along the route and will provide the staffing at the aid stations. Volunteer teams are encouraged to be creative, enthusiastic, willing to support the cyclists along the route. Riders will vote to determine their favorite volunteer team, however, donations will be awarded to each farm or farm organization that is represented by a volunteer team, regardless of the results of the competition.

Beginning early morning on Sunday, June 28, the Farm to Fork Fondo event boasts a 94-mile, 60-mile, 36-mile, and an 11-mile course ride with a post-ride barbeque and awards ceremony immediately following. Additional activities, including a Farm to Fork Plated Garden Dinner, a pizza cooking class presented by Colavita, ziplines, hiking, and more, are also planned throughout the weekend of June 27 and 28.
