New JCB High Power Tier 4 Final engine is ready for production

JCB’s new Tier 4 engine is about to go into production, ready to be fitted to Johnston’s VT501, VT651 and VT801 truck mounted sweepers.

The 93kW engine is compliant with Tier 4 Final emissions legislation, meaning it’s cleaner and better for the environment and, uniquely, has been signed off for installation to Johnston machines directly by JCB Power Systems itself.

The sign-off follows extensive field trials in Scotland with Johnston’s long-term customer, William Hamilton & Sons in South Lanarkshire.  The trials put the engine through its paces over many hours of sweeping, providing JCB with comprehensive user data and feedback and giving us full confidence in the clean new engine.

Johnston’s partnership with JCB started in 2013 with the introduction of JCB’s Tier 4 Interim EcoMAX engine, on which the new power pack is based.  JCB’s direct sign-off of the new engine and extensive endurance tests are unique to the industry, and we believe we will be first to the market with a fully tested and endorsed engine.
