Ammann at bauma 2025: Road Construction with E-Machines and ABG Pavers

With a clear ambition to redefine efficiency and sustainability on construction sites, Ammann presents a fully electrified portfolio in light compaction and a full-scale road construction solution for 2025—ranging from rammers to Ammann ABG pavers.

New e-drive developed in cooperation with DeWalt

At bauma, the battery-powered vibratory plate eAPF 15/40 and the electric rammer eATR 68 impressed the audience: equipped with newly developed DeWalt batteries, unveiled for the first time at bauma 2025, which charge fully in just one hour. The batteries can be easily swapped between the plate and the rammer, ensuring one machine is always ready while the other battery is charging.

The drive design has been completely reworked: two speed levels and a clutchless drive concept significantly reduce the size and weight of the e-motor, resulting in much easier handling during operation. “The DeWalt concept gives our customers a new drive option for our compact e-machines and, with the simple and quick battery swapping, provides completely new planning reliability on the construction site,” says Thilo Ohlraun, Ammann Sales Director Germany.

Alongside this, the eAPH 70/95—still the only fully hydraulic electric vibratory plate in the 750-kilogram class—sets new standards in e-drive technology and extends the program with emission-free power in applications previously reserved for diesel machines. Its emissions-free operation provides users with more flexibility, especially in sensitive urban or environmentally regulated zones, while reducing noise and air pollution.

Unprecedented freedom of movement

The reversible vibratory plates APR 52/75 and APR 58/75 further expand the 500-kg class portfolio: their reversible forward and backward movement ensures high compaction performance and precise maneuverability in confined construction sites and around obstacles.

The new tandem roller ARP 75 not only features the ACE pro compaction control system, but also introduces a Bird-Eye-View display, showing the machine in real-time from above, along with a brake assist system that automatically detects obstacles and stops immediately. This guarantees maximum safety for the operator and surroundings at all times.

Complete ecosystem for road paving

But Ammann’s innovation doesn’t stop at light compaction equipment. In June 2024, the company acquired the ABG paver business from Volvo Construction Equipment, expanding its product range to include asphalt paving. The combination of ABG pavers and Ammann asphalt rollers makes Ammann a full-range provider in road construction.

A real showstopper at bauma 2025 was the electric paver eABG 4820, which drew major attention as a prototype—alongside the ABG 6820, a Multi Class paver. Even at lower asphalt temperatures, it achieves the same compaction quality as at conventional temperatures—an important step toward more environmentally friendly paving.

“With the acquisition of the ABG paver division, we now offer our customers a complete solution: from paving to compaction, all machines come from a single manufacturer. Our newly patented VDTA-V double tamping screed allows the stroke of the front tamper to be adjusted steplessly during operation. We are the only manufacturer on the market offering this. Adjusting the tamper stroke on the fly is particularly useful when working with low-temperature asphalt (LTA), installing thick layers, or paving curves and roundabouts. This allows the pavers to achieve higher pre-compaction, reducing the number of roller passes required. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive—our partners appreciate the seamless integration and Ammann’s renowned quality. An added benefit is the increased demand for our asphalt rollers.”

Precision in curves and power on the excavator arm

In addition to innovations in pavers, Ammann also impresses in 2025 with smart solutions for compaction in urban areas. The walk-behind duplex roller ARW 65-S enables easy curve driving in smaller asphalt paving projects—on sidewalks or narrow alleys—via joystick control. With its 15° steering angle, it maneuvers easily and effortlessly around obstacles. This makes the roller a real alternative to small ride-on rollers. The compact design, paired with a choice of Honda, Hatz, or Yanmar engines, reduces conversion and transport times and guarantees consistent compaction quality at all times.

There’s also news in the field of attachment compactors. The APA 90/110 and APA 110/110 models now feature a worm gear with two drive motors instead of a hydraulically driven rotator. Combined with Ammann’s fully hydraulic 3-shaft technology, the attachments deliver high compaction performance. The reduced height makes them even more effective under overhanging trench structures and closer to building walls. The internal hydraulic lines are protected against damage, and the tiltrotator-ready configuration increases flexibility. This saves conversion costs and allows the compactor to be used directly on the excavator.

Smart concepts for efficient processes

With this unique combination of innovative electric drives and an integrated road construction system, Ammann creates true added value in 2025: construction companies benefit from more efficient processes and low-emission job sites. The close integration of asphalt paving and compaction technologies demonstrates how Ammann is paving the way to a sustainable future.
