On high legs: SENNEBOGEN 860 Electro at Bandinelli

As a family enterprise, Bandinelli SpA, in Lombardy, Italy, operates two ultra-modern scrapyards, and in this regard relies on the innovative SENNEBOGEN Green Line materials handling machines. A new SENNEBOGEN 860 dominates the site at a height of 8 m.

In the Italian province of Mantua, on an area of 40,000 square meters Bandinelli SpA operates one of the largest and most modern scrapyards in Northern Italy. The family company has specialized in the recycling of scrap and old vehicles since 1945. Since 2012 the firm has been using a SENNEBOGEN 860 to charge the 2000 t scrap metal shears. Equipped with a powerful 250 kW electric motor the machine not only works with extreme energy efficiency, it also works without emissions, and without having to refuel. Power is supplied directly via the special gantry construction. With a reach of 21 m, the 860 also services the sorting and loading stations, in addition to the scrap metal shears. An additional SENNEBOGEN 835 M is used as a mobile machine.

The particular challenge was to bring together the control units of the materials handling machine and the operation of the scrap metal shears. Both can be operated and monitored by one person. For this the SENNEBOGEN 860 was mounted on a rigid 4-point gantry undercarriage at a height of 8 m. Thus the materials handling machine sits directly above the shear cylinder and not only offers an unobstructed view of the Danieli-Henschel scrap metal shears, it also offers an ideal overview and freedom of movement all around the system. From the spacious PortCab the driver always has a free view of the shears and can monitor his entire work area. Equipped with bullet-proved windows and the perimeter railing the 860 satisfies even the most rigorous safety requirements.

The overall control of the system takes place conveniently in the generously-dimensioned cab, and the control system can be operated autonomously by one person - this saves personnel and guarantees efficient work processes.
