The Turkish shipbuilder Tersan Shipyard has won an order from Tidewater USA for the construction of a multi-purpose platform supply vessel. Designed for arctic operations, the platform supply vessel will be operated by the Norwegian Troms Offshore Supply Group, a fully owned subsidiary of Tidewater.
A design fit for different conditions
Attached to the order is an option for a further three vessels of similar design. Tidewater reportedly required a compact design with a high deadweight, thus providing maximum cargo capacity. The chosen design also features good operational efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. Furthermore, the vessel will be readied for cold climate conditions according to the DNV DE-ICE class. This notation includes requirements for maintaining safety and vessel operability in ice, under icing conditions, and at low temperatures.
