Palfinger Platforms: London calling

A NIGHT-TIME VISIT TO THE LONDON EYE

The London Eye is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe and has been one of the most popular tourist attractions of the English capital for the past 15 years. At a height of 135 meters, it offers the visitors in the glass capsules a wonderful view of the entire city of London. The running operation and size, however, are also a challenge for the maintenance. A challenge that the company Orion Access Services is handling with the help of two PALFINGER large aerial platforms.

To avoid interruption of the daily rides of the London Eye, the work took place during the course of three nights. The WT 610 and P 550 were used. With its enormous flexibility, the P 550 from the PALFINGER jumbo class NX in particular is perfectly suited for such tasks. The three-person crew had to be lifted up to 50 meters to inspect and grease the rear cables that lead to the main hub of the London Eye. While the WT 610 was used in a straight line to the top, the P 550 used its flexible arm, the X-jib, to skillfully circumvent obstacles so that the workers could reach every angle of the London attraction without problems.

Once again, the aerial platforms from PALFINGER platforms are distinguished by their efficiency and high quality of operation.
