Pipeline & Gas Expo will return for its third edition 29th-31st May 2024 at Piacenza Expo in Italy, showcasing advancements in no-dig technologies alongside comprehensive exhibits for oil, gas, and water pipeline networks and a new collocated exhibition CYBSEC-EXPO, highlighting cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure.
Pipeline & Gas Expo, the leading European exhibition and conference dedicated to the midstream oil and gas sector and water distribution networks is set to return for its third edition 29th-31st May 2024 at Piacenza Expo in Italy.
This year’s event promises significant growth following a successful second edition in 2022, which attracted over 200 exhibitors and 5,000 qualified visitors despite ongoing pandemic challenges. Building on the renewed industry desire for face-to-face interaction in highly specialised formats, event organiser Mediapoint & Exhibitions anticipates a substantial increase in both exhibitors and visitors in 2024.
Participants will include companies operating in the project management, construction and maintenance of oil, gas, and water pipelines; primary and secondary gas distribution networks; and water networks.
Despite Italy's proactive shift towards renewable energy sources, natural gas remains the dominant contributor to the nation's electricity grid, comprising approximately 50% of its total energy mix in 2022. Over the past decade, Italy has steadily increased its reliance on natural gas as a cleaner alternative to oil and coal, which has had significant implications for the country's pipeline infrastructure.
As of 2022, Italy boasted an extensive network of over 11,000 km of operational natural gas transmission lines, with an additional 2,000 km either in the planning stages or already underway. These figures underscore the pivotal role of the midstream sector and the opportunities for both domestic Italian and international businesses at Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024.
Trenchless technology takes centre stage
A particular highlight of Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024 will be a special focus area dedicated to trenchless technology, organised in collaboration with IATT, the Italian Association for Trenchless Technology. This area will showcase the latest advancements, particularly in directional drilling and pipe relaying, for installing, repairing, and rehabilitating pipelines in challenging and sensitive environments, such as underneath rivers, roads, railways, and buildings; densely populated urban areas; or areas of ecological or historical significance.
Beyond the trenchless technology focus, Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024 will continue to serve as a comprehensive platform for the entire pipeline contractor supply chain, showcasing products relating to lifting and pipelaying equipment; pipeline connectors, clamps, valves, and aligners; welding equipment and materials; non-destructive testing and leak detection instruments; and gas compressors, storage tanks, and treatment plants.
New cybersecurity exhibition for critical infrastructure
Recognising the growing importance of cybersecurity in the industry, Pipeline & Gas Expo 2024 will be collocated with CYBSEC-EXPO, a new exhibition dedicated to showcasing solutions for protecting critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
Expressing his anticipation for the forthcoming event, Fabio Potestà, director of Mediapoint & Exhibitions, said: “Pipeline & Gas Expo continues to be an indispensable platform for industry professionals to explore the latest innovations, forge strategic partnerships, and drive the sector forward. We are excited to witness the growth and vibrancy of the industry firsthand in our upcoming third edition in May 2024.”
