Powerful Dressta machines entrusted to handle waste management demands at Regional Landfill Silistra

Silistra is located in the North-eastern region of Bulgaria and its Regional Landfill deals with the organisation and disposal of up to 150 tonnes of municipal, construction and industrial waste each day. This adds up to over 40,000 tonnes each year – quite a sizable amount which must be effectively managed. A process which affects the surrounding population, it is crucial that the needs of the landfill site are properly met.

Regional Landfill Silistra lies across 120 hectares of land, and in order for the landfill site to accomplish its everyday tasks and effectively manage the disposal of a variety of waste materials, it needed to invest in a range of specialist equipment which could handle the task in hand. A landfill which serves the whole of the Danube area, it was no small task.

Specialist machines to match arduous working conditions

Not only was the area vast that the machines would have to operate across, but the machines would also have to contend with arduous working conditions. Pavlin Ivanov, Director at Regional Landfill Silistra, commented on the capabilities that the chosen machines must possess:

“The machines must demonstrate that they have what it takes to be able to deal with the complexity of the work and the difficulty of the terrain at Silistra. The debris at landfill sites can be incredibly unpredictable and potentially damaging, so we required a set of heavy-duty machines which were built to withstand the most abrasive materials.”

At Silistra, it was also absolutely necessary for the chosen machines to be able to transport a high amount of waste with ease, as well as being dependable and durable.

Why choose Dressta?

Dressta continues to provide the Regional Landfill Silistra with the ultimate solution with their bespoke range of high-powered, robust machines. Dressta was initially chosen primarily due to being renowned in Bulgaria as a high performing and reliable construction equipment brand which more than matched the capabilities required. Silistra chose to invest in six of Dressta’s machines: three crawler dozers (TD-15M, TD-20M and TD-25M), two wheel loaders with landfill configuration (534 E LA, 534 LA) and one other wheel loader (534) – machines that Silistra have used since 2006. Dressta’s machines form a large part of Regional Landfill Silistra’s overall fleet, which also consists of machines from other brands.

All machines clearly had durability and longevity in mind when constructed, and were specifically created to cope with the harshest of landfill conditions. Commenting on the machines themselves, Ivanov couldn’t have been more pleased with their capabilities: “Although all of the machines have been a superbly measured investment for us, we have been particularly impressed with the three crawler dozers. With varying engine and weight range, each has an individual purpose on our site.”

The TD-25 - Dressta’s heavy-duty crawler dozer - has had a particularly positive impact on the site, which is unsurprising given its tremendous operating weight – 41.5 tonnes, and its outstanding drawbar pull. Not only are these dozers large and incredibly powerful, but they are also able to optimise weight distribution, and have increased and more precise manoeuvrability, thanks to its two-speed steering drive.

“I DIDN’T EXPECT THE MACHINES TO BE FITTED WITH SUCH A HIGH LEVEL OF WORLD-CLASS COMPONENTS, WHICH HAVE IN TURN DROVE A HIGH LEVEL OF PRODUCTION FOR US."

Dressta’s 534 wheel loader has also made a mark at the landfill site due to its durability and design, making light work of heavy loads. “I didn’t expect the machines to be fitted with such a high level of world-class components, which have in turn drove a high level of production for us. I was also surprised by the level of comfort it provides for operators,” added Ivanov.

Dressta’s machines go the extra mile

Dressta not only ensure that their machine’s productivity is maximised, but that the operator is able to work in a comfortable and healthy environment. Ivanov added “Dressta’s machines certainly have a multi-faceted appeal. Not only are they productive and reliable, but the machines are also fitted with sound suppression, additional cab protection, powerful air conditioning and recirculation to ensure a safe and healthy workspace – something which we value highly.”

Ivanov added “Ultimately, the Dressta machines are durable. I feel reassured that not only are regular, rigorous checks carried out on each machine to ensure that they meet the highest standards possible, but me and my colleagues feel totally supported. If ever we require a part, we feel assured that one of Dressta’s Parts Distribution Centres are nearby, and that the part will be fitted as quick as possible. Dressta and their dealer really understand the value of maximum uptime and how that impacts my business.”

“What is so important about our collaboration with Dressta is that they value the same things we value – professionalism, durability and quality. Combine that with their flawless customer service and rapid feedback on a range of requests, and it is a winning combination which makes it the top ranked asset on our jobsite.”
