Putzmeister America, Inc. Introduces Reduced Weight - Bridge Maxx Ready Mix Truck

Putzmeister America, Inc. (Putzmeister) has updated its Bridge Maxx Series ready mix trucks with a new design and reduced weight, allowing for an increased payload capacity, while maintaining the durab ility for which Putzmeister is known.

“The two most important characteristics our customers are looking for when it comes to mixers are weight sensitivity and durability,” said Dave Adams, Putzmeister’s President & CEO.“The updated Bridge Maxx addresses both of those with its reduced weight and improved design.”

The Bridge Maxx Series now has a gross weight of 29,660 lbs—9,520 front axle, 20,140 rear axle. The reduced weight allows for a greater payload capacity and is able to meet stricter weight regulations.

To reduce the mixer’s weight, Putzmeister’s engineering team conducted a finite element analysis to calculate component displacements, strains, and stresses under internal and external loads. This allowed them to determine where they could reduce weight without sacrificing durability. They used modular component design and the same types of innovative manufacturing techniques Putzmeister uses in its boom pumps to further reduce the weight.

The Bridge Maxx Series mixers feature large drum openings, exclusive Ergonic ® Mix Control (EMC), a durable, yet light transmission, fully hydraulic control, high-strength modular construction, and large platform for increased workspace. They also feature a booster axle with hydraulic suspension powered by a pressure-compensating variable-displacement pump for excellent axle loading consistency, reduced frame stress, and safer highway travel.

Putzmeister will soon be redesigning and reducing the weight of its Pro Series mixers, as well.
