Renowned innovation award for KAISER AG

On Sunday, 14 April, VDMA President Dr. Thomas Lindner presented the bauma Innovation Award for the category “design” to CEO Markus Kaiser. The laudatory speech was held by Professor Dag Holmgren from Sweden.

The prestigious innovation award is presented every three years during bauma, the top international trade fair for machinery and equipment for construction, building materials and mining. 2013 marks the tenth time that the awards have taken place. Out of the 156 entries submitted from Germany and abroad, 15 groundbreaking new developments made it through to the final round. Winners were chosen in five categories.

KAISER’s new generation of mobile walking excavators, S10 and S12 Allroad, was particularly well placed to meet the criteria set for the design category and assessed by a high-calibre jury of experts. As a result, it was able to prevail over the innovations of fellow candidates, the two global players Liebherr and Wacker Neuson.

Intelligent design isn’t just visible – it’s also palpable

The driver’s cab and the superstructure on the new S10 and S12 models form a perfectly coordinated whole. The new mobile walking excavators reveal a consistent focus on dynamic and at the same time functional design of every element of the vehicle – whether it’s the cab interior, the field of vision inside and out of the cab, or the positioning of the heating and air-conditioning system.

Mobile walking excavators are built for deployment in arduous and inaccessible terrain. The driver commonly spends more time on the job compared with other construction sites. For that reason the cab has been specially conceived with the needs of the user in mind.

No compromises on power and technology

The large, dynamically designed air suction and exhaust vents provide an immediate clue to the performance class of the new mobile walking excavators. These models are equipped with the powerful COM IIIB engine which already meets future requirements of the EU vehicle emissions standard. Thanks to their lower centre of gravity, the S10 and S12 boast even greater stability on extreme slopes.

The impressive performance of the new generation of mobile walking excavators is achieved with KAISERtronic in combination with the newly developed hydraulic system known as ELIS (Electronic LoadIndependent System). KAISERtronic optimises the vehicle’s operational and travel characteristics. An intelligent control system enables performance and efficiency to be adapted to specific applications and substantially increased even further. ELIS is currently unique to this vehicle category.

The system can calculate the ideal hydraulic power at any given time thanks to the constant communication between all components. The result: maximum power at the point of need and higher speed with reduced fuel consumption at the same time.
