  • LTM 1100-5.2 replaces ten year old 100-tonne crane of the same type

  • Liebherr integrates new innovations also in crane types, that have been around on the market for a longer time

  • Long-standing good partnership with Liebherr

Horn Autokrane from Werdau in Saxony has taken delivery of a new LTM 1100-5.2 mobile crane from the Liebherr plant in Ehingen. The new 100-tonne crane replaces a ten year old mobile crane of the same type, but offers innovations that further improve the safety, economy and comfort of Liebherr mobile cranes: including ECOmode, VarioBase® and TraXon gear unit with ECOdrive.

“The LTM 1100-5.2 is a great crane and we were really happy with it. So we decided to go for the same model again. A major advantage is the fact that Liebherr also integrates new developments in crane types that have been around on the market for a longer time. As the VarioBase® variable support base is now also available for the LTM 1100-5.2, we ordered it too”, declares company owner Steffen Horn.

Another innovation distinguishing the new LTM 1100-5.2 is the ZF-TraXon transmission with ECOdrive: The lower speed level makes the vehicle much more comfortable and quieter when in service. Plus faster gearshifts ensure greater scope for off-road use. “Hill Holder” takes the strain off the crane driver when covering hilly terrain. The load- sensing control ECOmode minimises both fuel consumption and noise emissions when operating the crane superstructure.

Horn has six employees and operates four mobile cranes. The main fields of application are the construction sector with civil and structural engineering, machinery and industrial installation as well as individual special deployments. The family company was founded in 1991 and from the very beginning has only purchased from Liebherr: This figure has meanwhile risen to 18 mobile cranes with an investment sum of around 8.5 million euros.

Steffen Horn explains: “The success of our company rests on highly motivated employees, the partnership with Liebherr playing a really crucial role. Liebherr ensures proximity to the customer. Communication is tremendous and you’re helped in next to no time. The Liebherr service department is excellent. Plus the resale value of Liebherr mobile cranes is very high. That’s what I call fit for the future”.
