RUBBLE MASTER wins TRIGOS Upper Austria

Human and machine – the sustainable success concept

RM accepts social responsibility not only with its innovative crushers but also as an employer by supporting for example the further education of all employees, with apprentice training and the women in technology programme. Gerald Hanisch created his own business model to enable the sustainable removal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste which has seen RM rise to become the global market leader in mobile crushing and the recycling of C&D waste. RM unites an ecological approach and economic success. It is for these reasons that RUBBLE MASTER has won this year’s TRIGOS Upper Austria award in the category of medium-sized companies.

“Acting in a sustainable way has been a universal principle for us ever since the beginning. The machines operate in recycling and therefore work in the field of ecological sustainability on a daily basis,” says Gerald Hanisch, founder and CEO of RUBBLE MASTER. At RM sustainability means the responsible treatment of all resources throughout the entire value chain. Sustainability is based here on 3 pillars: economic, social and ecological sustainability.

The environmental approach has to be worthwhile

Breaking up and processing coarse material in a single step to make high-quality building aggregate – this is the innovative concept of RM. The mobile Compact Crushers can recycle a wide range of materials such as broken asphalt or concrete, C&D waste and natural stone directly on site and save environmentally harmful lorry journeys as a result. RM developed an innovative diesel-electric drive system to make the machines as effective and at the same time as economical as possible. The benefit: up to 30 per cent lower fuel costs.

Green ideas in green buildings

The new RM headquarters were also built in accordance with the latest ecological standards: the office building fulfils the passive-house standard and the production facility is a low-energy building. As a result, it was possible to reduce operational costs by 20 per cent.

“We look after our staff”

“We really take care of our staff,” says CFO Günther Weissenberger. Employees at all levels have the opportunity to further their education. Special workshops are designed for apprentices which not only offer professional qualifications but also make them aware of social skills. These offers are rounded off by internal and external apprentice exchange programmes. RM attaches particular importance to supporting women in technology. By employing and supporting female apprentices in the professions of construction machinery technician and construction machinery manufacturer, performance and quality in manufacturing have increased. Any prejudices are also removed as a result.

TRIGOS Upper Austria 2015

The TRIGOS Upper Austria 2015 award was presented this year for the fourth time by the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce together with the Upper Austrian government. The award is also supported by the Upper Austrian Industrial Association, Caritas, the Red Cross, the Austrian Environmental Umbrella Organisation and Diakoniewerk Gallneukirchen. The Business Data Consulting Group and respACT act as partners.

The TRIGOS Upper Austria 2015 trophy was designed and made by the metal workshop of Diakoniewerk Gallneukirchen. This workshop is one of many vocational and occupational facilities offered by Diakoniewerk for people with impairments. TRIGOS stands for all the elements of CSR (corporate social responsibility).
