Salford Group showcases machinery across its family of products at National Farm Machinery Show

Look out, Louisville—the Salford team is on its way to the National Farm Machinery Show!

Held annually at the Kentucky Exposition Center, this year’s National Farm Machinery Show will run from February 10-13. Visitors will have access to the most innovative new products and technology available to agribusiness professionals today. Covering a whopping 1.2 million square feet, the National Farm Machinery Show continues to hold its place as the largest indoor farm show in the United States.

For 50 years, NFMS Louisville has offered the most complete selection of cutting-edge agricultural products, equipment, and services available in the farming industry. With more than 850 exhibitors, this year’s show will surely not disappoint.

Salford Group will celebrate its largest National Farm Machinery Show presence, yet. This year will mark the first time NFMS Louisville will see the four unified brands—Salford, BBI, Valmar, and AerWay—that form Salford Group, the emerging global player in farm equipment.  Salford booths 8566 and 7623, as well as Tennessee Farmer’s Co-operative booth 8404, will host members of Salford’s sales, marketing, product management teams, and representatives from the company’s executive leadership. They will exhibit a wide selection of machinery from the Salford family of products, built for soil productivity.

Leading the contingent is a cadre of new innovations across the product lines. Back at NFMS for a second time, but with an added twist, is the BBI Javelin—a mid-season top-dress spreader capable of broadcasting urea at 120-foot swaths. This year’s model is one of the first spreaders in North America equipped with an advanced spinner system and split-chain conveyor. The combined effect from these design innovations is Section Control—a tool that empowers operators to switch from full swath to spreading only to the left or to the right. Section Control delivers positive economic and environmental benefits for farmers and their land, as they can reduce over-spread via section shut-off.

Another small innovation, with a potentially huge impact for farmers looking to complete tillage and seeding operations in a single pass, is the new three-point hitch system from Valmar. At this year’s NFMS, Salford will showcase a Valmar 2455 seeder from the Valmar 55 Series of implement-mount granular applicators. It will be equipped with a new three-point hitch that eliminates the need for complex implement-mount systems, making the 55 series more easily accessible for filling.

Making its NFMS debut is the new Salford PathFinder, a steerable undercarriage for transporting dry and liquid fertilizer tanks, for strip-till and row crop application. The PathFinder, designed to fit many aftermarket tank types, was created with the Valmar Airflo line of application products in mind.

Also from Salford comes the I-2200, one of the newest members of the company’s Independent Series for true vertical tillage. The I-2200 combines the Coil-Tech Coulter II 1 5/8-inch Independent blade-mounting system of the I-2100 with the five-inch spacing of the I-1200. This combination allows for multiple in-field benefits, including excellent seed bed preparation, thorough residue sizing, effective mechanical weed control, 60 percent more spring down pressure, and deeper penetration into tough ground conditions.

Also available for viewing, is the Salford Valmar Airflo 8600pneumatic boom spreader.  The 8 ton 8600 is essentially the same machine as its bigger brother, the new 8611 – an 11 ton hopper.  Those interested in the 8611, which is designed to meet the needs of large commercial operations, can view the metering system and general design of the 8611 on the 8600 on display at the NFMS.   The 8611 is a high-capacity, pull-type spreader that delivers the highest rates of application currently available in a commercial spreader. Thanks to its advanced design, the Airflo 8611 delivers rates as high as 1,000 pounds per acre, at eight miles per hour, allowing you to finish large jobs faster than ever.

Joining the new entries at NFMS are some representative pieces from the newly acquired AerWay line of advanced aeration and tillage equipment. The 25-foot vertical tillage model, installed on a heavy duty wheel kit, on display at the show, features AerWay’s patented CCT (Close Coupled Tandem), using two overlapping tined rollers, with three tines per row, giving farmers more pockets and fractures per acre. Aerway’s 10’ AWATS Top Dress Seeder will also be featured, with four tines per row, a 10foot seed box (with twenty drop tubes spaced six inches apart), and a 13 cubic feet (10 bushel) box capacity.  Salford Group will also showcase AerWay’s 10-foot Classic model designed for advanced aeration of hay and pasture environments.

Salford Group will also feature many of its top product lines at NFMS. The Salford I-5100, a primary tillage machine, is built for big jobs in big places. The I-5100 frame is the largest in the Independent Series.

The Valmar 1655, a medium-capacity implement-mount granular applicator, will illustrate the compatibility of many products across Salford Group. A long-time partner of Salford tillage machines, the 1655 will mount the Aerway 12 foot Classic at NFMS.

The company will also display multiple members of the BBI line of precision broadcast spreaders.  Joining Javelin at NFMS are two more hydraulic spreaders. MagnaSpread is the company’s flagship roster of precision applicators of fertilizer and lime, while Endurance is the industry leader in targeted distribution of heavier material like manure, compost, and litter. Both lines are optimized for precision agriculture, and are standard-equipped to take on all major technology suites for variable-rate application and field guidance, including the company’s proprietary Task Command System.

Two of BBI’s heritage mechanical spreaders, Liberty and Grasshopper, will round out the Salford Group contingent at the 2016 National Farm Machinery Show. Liberty features the original BBI spinner system that achieved industry-leading swath and precision, while Grasshopper is an ultra-light, single-axle model optimized for mid-season top dress applications.
