Sandvik Construction at Vitória Stone Fair

In Brazil Sandvik tunneling and drilling equipment has been successfully working on a variety of infrastructure and mineral excavation projects throughout the country. In order to share our experiences, as well as some of our most recent developments, we are pleased to announce we will be exhibiting at the Vitoria Stone Fair. This will be held in Espirito Santo from the 16th – 19th February.

Over several decades developing rock drilling and tunneling technology, we have created a line of specific products for use on a variety of applications, including mining ornamental rock. Sandvik technology has had great success in many countries where supposedly the use of mechanized processes would not be feasible, but the use of our equipment has proved otherwise. Based on this global experience of success, Sandvik Construction in Brazil will be exhibiting at the Vitória Stone Fair, which will be held in Espirito Santo from the 16th – 19th February.

The Vitória Stone Fair-Marmomacc Latin América aims to annually bring together some of the largest producers of ornamental stone and other materials in the world. The fair is seen as a reference point for Brazil, and increasingly the Americas, and is located at the centre for Brazilian ornamental stone sector in Espirito Santo. This area is the largest producer and exporter of ornamental stones in Brazil, possessing a vast geological array of stone and rock material. The 2016 Fair will see the event focusing on customer activities from around the world in the ornamental stone sector.

We will be displaying and providing information on specific stone extraction technologies focusing on ornamental rocks excavation and processing. This will include rock drilling tools and hydraulic breakers which are used to break rocks down to more manageable sizes. We will also be highlighting our world leading range of mobile crushing and screening equipment. These will be of particular interest to visitors' due to their use in processing ornamental rock mining waste, a by-product of the mining process, which can be sold as aggregate for construction applications.

Our experience in providing drilling and tunneling solutions has proved to be particularly relevant on a number of projects in Brazil. One of which is the New Tamoios scheme, which is a road integration project currently under construction on the north coast of São Paulo. Here we have supplied six rock drilling tunneling jumbos, aftermarket support and an array of specialized drilling tools. In addition the Belo Monte project has seen all the rock drilling performed by the Sandvik DX680 and a variety of urban tunneling work in Rio de Janeiro has seen Sandvik drilling and tunneling rigs in operation.

Due to the success of equipment and support on these projects, Sandvik Construction's contribution has been formally recognized. We recently received the award for "Outstanding After Sales" in the drilling equipment category. This was presented by the Youth Center of Sobratema - Brazilian Association of Technology and Construction.
