Korean company, GMC Corporation, is a loyal Sandvik Construction customer. It successfully operates two Sandvik Axera D06 jumbos, mining limestone, specifically ground calcium carbonate, for use by the paper industry. From its mine in Baekwoon, 2,000,000 tons of limestone is annually mined before being transported to Jincheon for further processing.

The Baekwoon mine is the largest producer of limestone in the whole of Korea, with sales in the region of 160,000 tons each month. Demand for its production means that GMC looked to add a surface drill rig to its fleet of equipment at the mine. As a proud owner of Sandvik equipment, the company had little hesitation in choosing the Tiger DG700.

The Tiger DG series has been developed to give excellent rates of penetration with high performing Sandvik rock drills. Blasting results are also enhanced due to the advanced Rock Pilot drilling control system that guarantees smooth collaring thereby delivering better hole quality. The Tiger DG series feature excellent stability and top-class balance with robust structure, a low center of gravity and heavy duty tracks – all at economical initial investment levels.

The Tiger DG700 is highly productive and user-friendly, and is also equipped with a series of higher safety and environmental features bringing the best drilling experience possible. A soundproof, safe and spacious cabin with tailor-made user interface, delivers added operator comfort with all daily maintenance points being easily accesses from the ground level. Additionally, GMC's Tiger DG700 is equipped with the Caterpillar Tier 3 engine which delivers reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency.

GMC Corporation's Tiger DG700 surface drill rig is now hard at work at the Baekwoon limestone mine. As the first of its kind in Korea, the rig has leapt into action helping to ensure that limestone production meets the demands of the company's customers.
