The first of the next 3,000 new Schmitz Cargobull S.CS curtainsider semi-trailers was handed over to Søren Lund (Director of Equipment) and Flemming Steiness (Deputy Equipment Manager) from DSV Road Holding NV on Monday, 6 February 2017. On their visit to the production plant in Altenberge with Boris Billich (Member of the Board at Schmitz Cargobull AG), Josef Warmeling (Head of International Key Account Management at Schmitz Cargobull AG) and Gregor Rein (Managing Director of Schmitz Cargobull Denmark A/S), they were impressed by the constant improvement of the products and production processes.

DSV Road Holding NV ordered the first round of 3,000 semi-trailers at the beginning of 2015, which were then delivered in a gradual process. The semi-trailers in the follow-up order will be completed steadily over the next two years and include delivery of both Universal and Mega trailers which can all be loaded onto trains. Boris Billich said: “We are proud that the framework agreement has been extended by another 3,000 semi-trailers and that we were able to live up to the trust placed in us. Our customer values our efforts to set the benchmark for intelligent and efficient transport solutions for the commercial vehicle industry!”

DSV A/S is one of the largest international transport and logistics companies. With its Europe-wide fleet of around 10,000 vehicles, it offers its customers in a wide range of industries an extensive service package for transport by road, rail or sea. “Over the past few years, Schmitz Cargobull has proven itself to be a reliable partner. The semi-trailer quality, quick and on-schedule delivery, and Europe-wide availability of spare parts are all decisive factors in meeting the quality standard we promise to our customers,” stresses Søren Lund, who is responsible for providing the right equipment for DSV Road in Europe.

Schmitz Cargobull particularly appealed to DSV thanks to its promise of quality and intricate innovative solutions as well as its reduced maintenance costs and higher residual values, which considerably reduce the total cost of ownership.

Upon the specific request of the customer, Schmitz Cargobull equipped all DSV trailers with Ultra-Seal tyre sealant and Westlake tyres.

Ultra-Seal is a preventative tyre sealant. Applied through the tyre valve, it converts any pneumatic tyre into a self-sealing tyre that will maintain air pressure – extending its service life and reducing fuel consumption.

Steiness adds: “This makes punctures a thing of the past. Ultra-Seal is a repair solution that lasts the complete life of the tyre. Extensive practical tests at DSV have led to impressive results, which made the choice easy to fill every tyre on a DSV trailer with Ultra-Seal. At the same time, we want Westlake tyres fitted because we believe they are the best value for money tyre on the market.”
