With all the new kit on the move now from the Old Rocket Station, Boothby Graffoe, venue for the recent Cereals 2015 event, up to the Ingliston Showground in Edinburgh, the race to set up for the Royal Highland Show 2015 commences. Located in Amazone’s traditional spot on Avenue T in the main machinery area on the Showground, the 400 m2 stand will play host to three brand new pieces of kit. Top of the parade are the new mid-range ZA-V spreaders for tramline widths of 12 to 36 metres and in hopper sizes from 1,700 through to 4,200 litres. The deep-pressed base hopper is seam-free for consistent fertiliser flow and minimal residues left after finishing the spreading operation and three payloads are possible - 1,800 kg, 3,200 kg or 4,500 kg - depending on farm size and tractor capacity. Spread width adjustment is done with a simple lever on the Quick-Set V-Set spreading discs. The entry level machines can be equipped with either hydraulic or electric on/off and with the electric shutter system comes the advantage of using the all-new Limiter V+ which is actuated electrically on the move from the tractor seat. The ability to lower the Limiter V+ deflectors down into the spread fan at varying heights means that the spread pattern can be controlled to suit the weather conditions and fertiliser type; as well as taking into account any environmental water course requirements.
The ZA-V Control offers speed-related spread rate control via the AMASPREAD+ in-cab terminal where the Profis Control incorporates a weigh-cell into the system for automated spread rate calibration. The top of the range ZA-V Profis Tronic is equipped also with twin weigh-cells and a tilt sensor as standard and communication to the in-cab controller is via ISOBUS. All Profis Tronic models are SectionControl-ready under the ISOBUS conformity protocol. The new roll-over hopper covers ensure dust and moisture free spreading and they can be actuated hydraulically if desired for speeding up the fill operation. Mudguards and mud flaps are standard of course.
On the drill front will be two of the grain and fertiliser offerings from Amazone: the AD-P Super C split tank rear-mounted 3 or 4 metre power harrow/ drill combi and the trailed 6 metre Cirrus 6003-2C cultivator drill. The new AD-P C has a 50:50 split 2,000 litre seed tank with electrically driven metering system controlling the seed rate to each half. Calibration is from the cab via push-button operation and the AMATRON 3 controller will also work with both VRA application maps and automatic headland shut using GPS-Switch for improved accuracy on the in’s and out’s as well as maximising seed numbers depending on soil type and seedbed conditions. In the autumn the unit can be used with TSP for enhanced root development in the emerging plant as well as for spring barley sowing along with high rates of NPK.
The Cirrus 6003-2C uses a similar electric-metering system and offers a pressurised split 4,000 litre twin tank for grain only, grain and fert or maybe two seed types for under-sowing grass or cover crops.
The new, grain only, AD-P Special 4000 will also be on show for the first time and the model in question at Ingliston will be fitted with the new Cracker-Disc-Roller which still gives strip-wise targeted reconsolidation but with a slightly more intensive crumbling effect for when working on heavier, wetter soils. The AD-P will also have the TwinTerminal 3 remote calibration box which allows the operator to calibrate the drill remotely from down at ground level without having to climb back and forth into the tractor to enter in collected weights, etc..
Of course there is more to the Amazone range than just the new stuff and so on show alongside the new kit will also be the Cayron 200-V 5 furrow reversible plough, the ZA-TS 4200 Ultra Profis Hydro - big brother to the new ZA-V spreaders, the Cenius 3002 Super mulch cultivator with GreenDrill 200 seeder box on the back for oil seed rape establishment and the Pantera 4502 self-propelled sprayer as well as the full range of Groundcare equipment including the SmartCut Profihopper and Groundkeeper flail mower collectors.
