AN EXCITING EVENT WITH MORE INNOVATIONS THAN EVER

The 75th SIMA-SIMAGENA International Agri-Business Show will be held on 24-28 February 2013 at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. The show is set to be an exciting event, taking place against a positive background in a buoyant market. Its theme is “high-performance, sustainable agriculture” and now more than ever, the show is asserting its position as a dynamic international event with numerous innovative features including international meetings, a genomics centre, careers workshops and more.

85% of the show already sold

After a significant increase in 2011 (+34.7% compared with 2010, to €4.5 billion) the French market for agricultural
equipment is continuing its upward trend, with order books filling up in the first half of 2012 as overall levels of
business are maintained (source: Axema/Sedima).

“SIMA-SIMAGENA is taking place in a very promising context,” according to the show’s Director, Martine Dégremont. “85% of its floor space has already reserved, eight months before the event. All the leading firms in the various agricultural equipment sectors have already reserved their space at this major event. In fact, SIMA-SIMAGENA is currently the only trade show in the world to showcase agricultural equipment for large-scale and specialist agriculture and livestock rearing at the same time, along with over 400 cattle; not to mention sectors such as maintaining rural areas, sustainable energy and irrigation, the last of which is growing strongly. Another very positive aspect is that over 15% of our registrations have been new exhibitors, demonstrating once more the
attractiveness of SIMA-SIMAGENA throughout the world.”

An increasingly international event

The number of international exhibitors attending is already on the increase, with an additional 12% registered
(compared with the same date last year) and over 41 countries already represented. Germany, Italy, Spain, India
and the Czech Republic have shown the strongest growth.

SIMA-SIMAGENA’s international dimension is also reflected in the composition of the judging panel for the SIMA
Innovation Awards, which is currently made up of representatives from seven countries (Belgium, Canada, France,
Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland) and international experts from nine (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France,
Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Switzerland).

Finally, Algeria, China and Kazakhstan will feature particularly strongly in the show, with special breakfasts reserved for exhibitors and the press, focusing on the markets and commercial potential of all three countries.

Innovation at the heart of the event

Innovation is at the heart of the 75th SIMA-SIMAGENA show, which will offer exhibitors and visitors a range of new opportunities:

International Meetings, organized in the form of presentations and meetings, will provide an opportunity to
get up to speed across the board on topics covering all types of agriculture around the world;
the SIMAGENA Genomics centre offers the chance to focus on genetics and genomics, with the selection
units and PHF (Prim’Holstein France) and KBS Génétic amongst others, and to shed light on all the new advances
and discoveries in the field;
the Innovation Zone will showcase, in a single place, all the innovations at the show in the agricultural equipment
sector;
the Careers Workshops will review the current state of the sector and recruitment (5,000 jobs to be filled) and
will be accompanied by job-dating sessions and meetings between applicants and recruiters in the agricultural
equipment sector.

A long-awaited event

SIMA-SIMAGENA is not only a forum for exchanging ideas and meeting new people, but also an opportunity to
take part in what are now some of the key events of the year, and which make the show so diverse and rich in
expertise, such as:
the SIMA Innovation Awards, awarded by a panel of expert international judges, which reward innovative or
forward-looking agricultural equipment or services;
practical workshops, lasting 30 minutes, which use first-hand accounts to address the various problems
associated with sustainable development, different occupations, the role of women in agriculture, etc.;
plenary sessions, around ten in total, focusing primarily on the economic and technical issues faced by the
sector;
the Good Practices Area, which will bring together research and development organizations and the public
services, to offer advice to visitors who are committed to protecting the environment in their sector.

SIMA-SIMAGENA on world tour!

“In the next few days, SIMA-SIMAGENA will be embarking on its world tour,” concludes the show’s director, Martine Dégremont. “It’s about going out to meet our exhibitors and future visitors. As well as attending agricultural events abroad, we will be organizing presentations in almost 20 countries to introduce the show and its unique offering. The international dimension of SIMA-SIMAGENA is one of its strengths, with 50% international exhibitors from 41 countries and 25% international visitors from 123 countries. The show is a source of dynamism, openness and innovation. It also shows that SIMA-SIMAGENA, now more than ever, is the show for all kinds of agriculture.”
