Skanska sells retirement home in Alingsås, Sweden, for about SEK 260 M

Skanska has sold the retirement home Villa Brogården in Alingsås, Sweden, for about SEK 260 M. The buyer is Northern Horizon through its real estate fund Nordiska vårdhem. The transaction will be recorded in the Commercial Property Development stream in the third quarter 2020. The transfer will take place during the first quarter 2022.

With its 80 apartments, Villa Brogården will be five storeys high with a total area of just over 5,300 square meters. A lease agreement has been signed with Vardaga, which will be responsible for the operation of the retirement home.

The retirement home, which is being developed and built by Skanska Sweden, has high sustainability requirements. The ambition is that the energy consumption will be 80 per cent below the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's guidelines. In addition to LEED certification, level Gold, which aims at environmentally friendly design, operation, production and maintenance, investments are made in solar cells on the roof and geothermal heating.

Construction work has begun and will be completed during the first quarter 2022.

Skanska is one of the leading development- and construction companies in the Nordics, with operations in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and developing residential- and commercial property projects in select home markets. The commercial development stream is also active in Denmark. Skanska had sales of about SEK 70 billion and more than 15,200 employees in its Nordic operations during 2019.
