Trenchless technology from TRACTO-TECHNIK stands for first-class quality, high reliability, comprehensive project consulting and a bespoke service. The product range covers various applications for supply and disposal such as water, fibre optics (FTTX), natural gas, E-mobility, wind farms, remote heating and sewage.

At this year’s INTERMAT visitors can deeply delve into the world of innovative NODIG solutions for the “Smart City” of tomorrow on an outdoor area of more than 500 m2. Especially with regards to cost reduction for private utilities and the tax-funded public sector when maintaining developing the complex underground infrastructure, the innovative products and systems by TRACTO-TECHNIK offer sustainable and economical solutions.

Smart NODIG solutions for infrastructure linkage and development

New installation and rehabilitation of mains and distribution pipes using trenchless technology has been accepted for a long time. Further developments meanwhile allow for installing property service connections completely underground up into the customer's basement or service room. Using the GRUNDOMAT “mole” soil displacement hammer, the complete range of sectors - from sewage to FTTX connections - can be installed and renewed without trenches. Gas, water, sewage, district heating, electricity and telecoms/data are connected into single buildings, housing blocks or commercial and industrial plants. Waterproof wall ducts for gas and water pipes allow trenchless installation from the basement of the building without additional assembly pits in front of the outer wall.

Another smart TRACTO-TECHNIK innovation is the award-winning GRUNDOPIT K bore rig which enables installation, repair and renewal of service connections from out of a circular keyhole with a maximum diameter of only 650 mm.

At first a cylindrical core bore is worked into the surface using a core drill unit to cut open the excavation pit, then the soil is sucked out of the hole up to the installation depth using a suction excavator. After completion of the work, the previously drilled out circular core bore is inserted back into place without any subsequent stress cracks or damage to the road surface, making this minimal-invasive technology especially eco-friendly and cost-effective. Always aiming at offering complete solutions, TRACTO-TECHNIK also provides a range of high-end core drill units to cut open the keyhole or any other circular construction pit up to 1500 mm in diameter which can be used for repairs of partial pipe damages such as pipe breakage, faulty fittings, defective feeder caps etc. as well. The CD core drill unit can be driven via the hydraulic auxiliary drive of the suction excavator or via another support unit, e.g. mobile excavator, wheel-type loader or hydraulic power unit. A quick coupling system allows a quick change-over between core bore unit and suction pipe with only a few swift hand movements.

That way the keyhole technology also substantially contribute to the development of the e-mobility infrastructure by either using the keyhole as the assembly pit for the e-charging station and/or as the starting bore hole for laying the connection cables.

After removing the bore core the soil is sucked out of the hole up to the installation depth using a suction excavator. Now the new pipe installation or pipe repair process for house connections can begin. The amount of spoil is distinctly reduced compared to a square hole with 1,5 x 1,5 m edge lengths. This is also the case when exchanging soil with filling material. The core bore unit can be driven via the hydraulic auxiliary drive of the suction excavator. A quick coupling system allows a quick change-over between core bore unit and suction pipe with only a few swift hand movements. The core bore unit can also be driven via another support unit (mobile excavator, wheel-type loader) or via the hydraulic power unit TT M9-25.

Smart NODIG solutions for pipe line installation

The fast-paced development of the steerable drilling technique allows the trenchless installation projects which would have been unthinkable a few years ago. The GRUNDODRILL rigs truly drive this development due to their versatility and profitability. The TRACTO-TECHNIK product line ranges from the compact and mobile GRUNDODRILL 4X bore rig to the powerful GRUNDODRILL 28Nplus HDD system. One of the highlights in the HDD machine family is the GRUNDODRILL 18ACS which works highly efficiently in alternating soils as well as in the hardest rock, offering distinctively reduced operating costs and construction times compared to similar drilling rigs. With the challenge of developing the urban underground network, the GRUNDODRILL 11XP was designed. Its slim construction it is ideal for applications in inner-city areas. That way parallel installations up to 500 m long are possible, with crossings beneath rivers and water bodies being completed frequently. The steering technology even enables bores underneath industrial complexes.

Smart NODIG solutions for sustainable preservation of resources

The amount of supply and disposal pipelines in need of repair and/or replacement is constantly increasing worldwide. Especially with regards to the problems of water loss and/or inadequate pipe capacity with ageing urban supply and sewer networks, pipe bursting with GRUNDOBURST is a favourable method for the trenchless replacement of pipes having typical damages such as cracks, incrustation, root infestation, misalignment, positional displacement, split sleeves, etc. Re-instatement costs due to ground settlement, groundwater interferences and road damage are almost omitted. Moreover, the network capacity can be adapted as new pipes of smaller, equal or even larger diameter of up to 1 - 2 nominal sizes can be installed. The GRUNDOBURST rigs are universally applicable for pipe renewal but can also be applied for pipe repair and renovation methods such as relining, TIP or pipe reduction.

Using the dynamic pipe cracking method with GRUNDOCRACK, old pressure or sewage pipes made of brittle materials or plastic are shattered and simultaneously replaced by new HDPE pipes (long and short pipes) or PVC-U pipes in a rather simple way. Air-driven, modified pipe rammers function as crackers which are supported by the pulling force of a conventional winch, guaranteeing safe guidance through the given pipe path.
