Stainton Quarry in County Durham has purchased a second hand 883, supplied to the site by Finlay Plant Northern.

The machine plays an integral role in the production of architectural building stone and aggregates and is supporting the quarry’s work to process and reclaim sandstone for use in construction projects throughout the UK.

A distinctive fine grained, buff-coloured stone, which features a fine brown speckle, has been quarried from Stainton since the 1600s.

The quarry, which is based near Barnard Castle, reopened in 2009 and the quality of its products – coupled with high service levels and a skilled team – have seen the site go from strength-to-strength in recent years.

Andrew Buck, the operator of Stainton Quarry, said: “We are producing a higher quality product now with the 883 than we were before and offering a clean product too. By having the machine we’ve been able to broaden our horizons and it’s proving to be both time and cost efficient.”

Charlie from Finlay Plant Northern supports us on site and his opinion is trusted. “We did not even have to spend time viewing suitable machines, Finlay Plant Northern found it, viewed it and delivered it to us.

” At Stainton Quarry, the versatile machine is producing sizes ranging from single size 150mm down to 40mm, oversize 150mm plus, and 40mm down to dust.

A high performance machine that has proved its worth on site for years, the 883’s heavy duty build, compact design and built-in features make it a popular and flexible screening plant in the Terex Finlay range.

It is designed to work as a primary screen in quarries, as well as with demolition, C&D recycling, landfill, topsoil, sand and gravel, coal, iron ore processing and aggregate material.

The 883 can also be used as a secondary screen fed from a crusher.

Charles Nairn, a director of Finlay Plant Northern, part of the Finlay Group of companies, said: “We are really pleased that Stainton Quarry is getting excellent value from their first machine with us. It is helping to transform their operations and supporting business growth.”
