CAPELLE AAN DEN IJSSEL, The Netherlands, – Topcon’s Stephen (Steve) Cooper has been promoted to sales manager - European distribution. His appointment is effective immediately.
Based in the UK, his new role will be to oversee all sales activities relating to Topcon Europe Positioning (TEP) distribution business throughout the region, working as part of the Topcon European Management Team.
Steve has been involved within the survey industry for 20 years, and moves from his current role as business manager for Topcon Great Britain (TGB) Ltd. At TGB, he introduced a new company structure as well as many other positive changes and improvements within the organisation.
Rene Worms, general manager for TEP, said "I am delighted to appoint Steve to this new role for Topcon in Europe. He has shown in TGB and also in previous roles in our industry to be the perfect liaison between manufacturer and their distribution partners. In his new role Steve will have all the support and empowerment from TEP executive directors to maintain, improve and expand Topcon Positioning Europe sales distribution."
Graduating from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1995 with a BSc (with honours) in mapping information science, Steve worked within the surveying industry before joining Topcon in July 2011. He worked as regional sales manager for survey technology and ESS Safeforce (UK specialists in positioning and safety equipment). It was in this position that he helped with the successful tender for over one hundred Topcon MS05AX monitoring total stations acquired for the Crossrail project, the biggest ever single purchase of surveying equipment in the UK.
About his new role, Steve said: "This new role with Topcon is an exciting one and I am looking forward to working closely with the knowledgeable and hardworking team already based within Europe. With the increase in the construction industry across Europe, this is a great time for Topcon’s distribution network to capture a larger share of this market with the increase of our leading-edge technology being designed and supplied by Topcon’s.”
Steve is based at Topcon’s at the TEP headquarters at Capelle A/D IJssel, The Netherlands. He can be contacted by email at [email protected].
