STILL begins cooperation with top athletes from TEAM HAMBURG 2016

What do top athletes and STILL employees have in common? They both decide the match! The Company has taken this parallel as an opportunity and has started a cooperation with TEAM HAMBURG 2016. This will recognise and encourage the team spirit and motivation that STILL employees prove anew every day.

Ambition, motivation and commitment are decisive factors in challenging times – that’s true in both sport and industry. Anyone who wants to play at the very top must overcome hurdles in both games, and must stay on the ball and focus on the goal that is set. For STILL the goal is to take its place as a competitive, successful business at the pinnacle of international markets. For the top athletes of TEAM HAMBURG 2016 it involves nothing less than taking part in the Olympic Games.

As an initial step of the collaboration, the athletes’ specialist expertise will be used in the context of joint training units to prepare for the Hamburg Triathlon and the Morgenpost (Mopo) Relay Race, in which teams from the Company have already participated for many years. The starting signal for this was given by the swimming training with Steffen Deibler and his trainer Petra Wolfram on Wednesday 17th June 2015.

Steffen Deibler is the world record holder in the 50 m butterfly, reached the semi-final in the 2012 Olympic Games and competes with greats such as Michael Phelps. He and his trainer stood ready to advise STILL’s employees with words and deeds in this special training unit. They gave advice on warming up, the correct swimming technique, and recommendations for training and preparations for the competition. This was followed by running training with Anne Schröder, a national team hockey player with a ticket for Olympia 2016, and Helge Schwarzer, track & field athlete and trainer, on Thursday 2nd July 2015. These will be followed by training units with various top athletes.

TEAM HAMBURG targets its promotion at top-class sport in the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. The aim is to offer TEAM HAMBURG athletes support to accompany their sport, and basic material security to enable them to concentrate fully on the sport. In this way Hamburg’s top ranking athletes will be seen as ambassadors for the sports city of Hamburg and will be identified with the sports city of Hamburg as outstanding young athletes.

TEAM HAMBURG is an initiative by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Hamburg Sports Federation, the Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein Olympic Sports Centre and the Hamburg Competitive Sports Foundation (www.team-hamburg.de).
