In this interview with LECTURA, Falk Appold, founder and CEO of Areman GmbH, discusses the company’s mission to simplify spare parts sourcing for construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery. He explains how Areman combines digital tools, personal consultation, and a strong supplier network to offer flexible, cost-effective solutions—while promoting sustainability through remanufacturing and efficient processes.
Patrik Eder: Could you provide an overview of Areman’s mission and the range of services you offer to your clients?
Falk Appold: Areman GmbH was founded to make the procurement of spare parts for construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery easier, faster, and more independent. Our mission is to relieve workshops, equipment operators, and construction companies by offering centralized and straightforward access to high-quality spare parts—regardless of brand or model. We combine personal consultation, a digital platform, and technical support to create an all-in-one solution. In addition to standard spare parts, we also supply filters, lubricants, cab glass, and components from our own remanufacturing program. Sustainability is particularly important to us: through smart processes and durable alternatives, we help our customers while also conserving valuable resources. We don’t just see ourselves as a supplier, but as a reliable partner on equal footing.
PE: Could you describe Areman’s remanufacturing process and explain how it contributes to sustainability and cost-effectiveness for your customers?
FA: Our remanufacturing process is based on the idea of restoring used components to like-new condition—rather than scrapping them. We purchase old or defective machines and spare parts—such as engines, electronic components, or control units—inspect them thoroughly, disassemble and clean every component, and specifically replace worn or damaged parts. The unit is then reassembled professionally, tested, and delivered with warranty. The result is a product that matches new-part quality but comes at a significantly lower cost. This process not only saves money, but also reduces material and energy consumption—making it a true contribution to sustainability. For us, reman is not a compromise—it’s a forward-looking concept for efficient, environmentally conscious equipment maintenance.
PE: How does Areman ensure the quality and reliability of the OEM spare parts it supplies across various brands?
FA: Our spare parts come from a Europe-wide network of over 2,800 qualified suppliers—including OEMs, brand-name manufacturers, and selected alternative producers. Every part is carefully checked for compatibility and fit. We draw from a database of over 50 million references to enable precise identification. Upon request, we also provide technical documentation and installation guidance to make the workshop’s job easier. Thanks to our close supplier relationships and ongoing quality control, our customers can trust in the reliability of every part we deliver. Our focus is not only availability, but also consistently high quality.
PE: You mention that customers can significantly reduce costs through your services. How exactly does that work?
FA: Because we are brand-independent, we can always offer the right solution for our customers’ needs and budgets—whether that’s OEM parts, high-quality alternatives, or remanufactured components. Compared to a manufacturer’s suggested retail price, customers can save up to 70%—with the same or even better service life. Our personal consulting also prevents incorrect orders and costly returns. Our promise is simple: the right part, at the right time, at the best price. That’s how we make spare part procurement not only more affordable, but also far more efficient. For many customers, this has become a real competitive advantage.
PE: Skilled labor shortages are a major issue for many construction equipment workshops. How does Areman address this challenge, and how do your services help speed up and simplify workshop processes?
FA: We understand the realities in workshops—shortage of personnel is often paired with lack of time. That’s why our service is built around relief: spare part requests can be sent via WhatsApp using the machine type, serial number, or even just a photo of the damaged part. We then take care of the identification, sourcing, and ordering. We also provide service data, wiring diagrams, and machine-specific documentation when needed. The parts history of each machine can be stored in our system as well—for better overview and more predictable maintenance. This not only relieves workshop teams but also streamlines workflows and helps minimize costly downtimes.
PE: How does Areman’s Europe-wide network of partners enhance your ability to provide diverse and timely solutions to clients in the construction, agricultural, and industrial sectors?
FA: Our network of over 2,800 suppliers across Europe enables us to source virtually any part at short notice—even for older or less common machines. Thanks to this broad supplier base, we can respond flexibly to shortages and nearly always offer a suitable alternative. Especially in times of strained supply chains, this is a major advantage. For our customers, it means high availability, short delivery times, and a centralized system that handles everything. Whether it's a large construction site, an agricultural business, or a specialized workshop—we deliver tailored solutions within 24 to 48 hours. And all of it with just one point of contact.
