Swiss debut: Welti-Furrer acquires the very first Terex® Explorer 5800 all terrain cranes in all of Switzerland

April 15, 2015 marked a first for Welti-Furrer, the Swiss market, and Terex Cranes. On that date, the crane service and heavy transport provider picked up the first two Explorer 5800 cranes to ever be delivered to Switzerland. “We’re in the process of upgrading our fleet, and adding these two Explorer 5800 units will ensure that we’ll be on the cutting edge of technology,” explains Welti-Furrer’s Amos Dubacher, who traveled to the Terex Wallerscheid location in Germany together with several employees in order to personally receive the cranes from Terex team member Oskar Meier.

The Swiss company’s staff was particularly impressed with the forward-looking single-engine design and 70-meter boom behind the cranes, which will be primarily used to erect and tear down tower cranes and build concrete structures. Accordingly, Welti-Furrer ordered the two units with a runner and an optional second hoist from the get-go, which will enable the company to use two-hook turning with concrete members.

The acquisition of the two Explorer 5800 cranes is only the beginning of Welti-Furrer’s fleet upgrade process: In May 2015, the Swiss company will be sending some of its staff to Wallerscheid again so that they can pick up two Terex AC 350/6 all terrain cranes.
