  • TAM introduces a slurry tank attachment for Väderstad Carrier disc harrows, combining slurry application and soil cultivation in a single operation.

  • The system applies slurry directly into soil furrows created by the first row of discs, reducing ammonia losses and improving nutrient utilization.

  • The kit features Vogelsang's precision DosiMat slurry distributor and Continental's flexible, reinforced "Vacupress Flex" hose.

  • Available since June 2026, the attachment can be self-installed or purchased via Väderstad dealers, expanding existing machinery capabilities and reducing operational costs.

Thüringer Agrartechnik & Maschinenbau GmbH (TAM) has been offering a new slurry tank attachment for various disc harrows in the Väderstad Carrier range since June 2026. Developed at TAM’s Mechterstädt site, the kit enables slurry application and soil cultivation to be combined in a single operation. TAM developed the solution in close cooperation with Väderstad and Vogelsang.

The slurry tank attachment is available for the Väderstad Carrier X in the CRX 425, CRX 525 and CRX 625 versions with V-Disc or X-Disc. The kit can either be installed by the customer or fitted by a specialist dealer.

Applying slurry directly behind the first row of discs

Technically, TAM relies on direct application of the slurry into the soil opened by the disc harrow. Product Manager Marcel Reinhardt explains: “The discs in the first row create furrows in the soil. Outlet pipes made of hot-dip galvanised steel, attached to the disc arms, guide the slurry directly into these furrows in the shadow of the discs. The second row of discs then covers the cultivated area with soil again.”

This means that the slurry is not only applied close to the ground, but is also incorporated directly into the soil. This is intended to reduce ammonia losses and odour emissions while improving nutrient utilisation. As soil cultivation and organic fertilisation are carried out in a single operation, an additional pass can also be eliminated. This reduces working time, fuel consumption and machinery costs, and can help protect soil structure by reducing the number of passes.

“It was important to us during development not to create an isolated solution, but to make sensible use of existing technology. Many farms and agricultural contractors already operate high-performance Carrier disc harrows. With the slurry tank attachment, they can expand the range of applications of their existing machinery and combine soil cultivation and organic fertilisation efficiently,” explains Marcel Reinhardt.

Vogelsang distribution technology and newly developed hose

The kit includes a distributor tower, hose package, outlet pipe set, hydraulic kit and distribution technology. The Vogelsang DosiMat DMX570-24-50 precision slurry distributor is used. According to Vogelsang, its flow-optimised rotor design enables consistently high distribution accuracy at different flow rates and is designed for flow rates of up to 10,000 litres per minute. The specified service life is up to 200,000 cubic metres per distributor.

The newly developed “Vacupress Flex” hose from Continental is used for the hose system. The two-layer PVC hose features an integrated galvanised steel spiral and polyester thread reinforcement. According to the product information, it combines high flexibility with stability, is UV-resistant and resistant to peak pressure. The specified temperature range is from -25 to +60 degrees Celsius.

Availability

The slurry tank attachment has been available since June 2026. Users can choose between a kit for self-installation or purchase the slurry tank attachment directly through a specialist dealer. The slurry tank attachment is available from Väderstad dealers.
