Three more Terex® LiftaceTM reach stacker models
Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has rounded off its portfolio of Terex® LiftaceTM reach stackers and has thus further expanded its new generation of lift trucks. TPS is presenting its new Terex Liftace 6-36 M, Liftace 6-41 MS and Liftace 6-45 LS models at this year’s TOC Europe in Hamburg, Germany. The new machines complement the currently available Liftace 5-31 and Liftace 5-36 models to form a comprehensive Liftace family. At the same time, they are replacing the Terex TFC reach stackers of the previous generation, except for models TFC 45 and TFC 45 R.
The models now being introduced have a larger wheelbase than the first two Liftace machines (6,200 mm). The wheelbase of the Liftace 6-36 M and the Liftace 6-41 MS is 6,600 mm and that of the Liftace 6-45 LS is 7,000 mm. This is shown by the suffix “M” (medium – medium wheelbase) and “L” (Large – large wheelbase) in the product designation.
Maximum load capacity up to 45 t in the second row
The new reach stackers can stack up to six high-cube containers (Liftace 6-36 M) and six standard containers (Liftace 6-41 MS and Liftace 6-45 LS) accurately and fast in the first row. In addition to the 45 t typical for Liftace reach stackers in the first row, the maximum load capacity for the Liftace 6-36 in the second row is 36 t. The load capacities of the Liftace 6-41 MS and the Liftace 6-45 LS are 41 t and 45 t respectively, whereby the maximum load capacity is achieved when the stabilizer is activated. Equipped with a corresponding system, both machines are thus identified by the suffix “S” in the product designation.
Versatile thanks to stabilizer
Thanks to the stabilizer and the high load capacity with a large outreach, the Liftace 6-41 MS and Liftace 6-45 LS reach stacker models are particularly well suited for use in intermodal terminals. In addition, the high load capacities mean that terminal operators also have the option of using the machines for handling different types of general cargo. This means the load capacity of the Liftace 6-45 LS is up to 36 t in the third row. Mike Hegewald, Senior Director Global Engineering TPS: “As regards customer benefit, the versatility of our products is particularly important. This is why we also focused on applications over and above container handling during development of the new Liftace models. Lifting gear that we have developed ourselves, such as telescopic single and double pipe grabs, has also contributed to this multifunctionality.“
Cost-effective, serviceable and ergonomic
Like all previous representatives of the new-generation lift trucks from TPS, the new Liftace reach stackers are particularly cost-effective, serviceable and ergonomic. They are characterized by low fuel consumption and wear, easy access to all maintenance points and a cab with a particularly user-friendly design. The engines comply with the emission standards EPA Tier 3 and 4f (EU Stage IIIA and IV).
TPS also offers a weighing system that, by documenting the actual container weights, helps to implement the current SOLAS guidelines (international agreement concerning protection of human life at sea) issued by the UN.
Important development step completed
With the three new Terex Liftace reach stackers, TPS has completed an important development step. Together with the previously introduced Liftace 5-31 and Liftace 5-36 reach stackers, the machines form a complete, clearly structured product range. Hegewald: “The Liftace reach stackers, now numbering five in total, have, for the most part, replaced the Terex TFC model range. For the time being we are only continuing to offer the TFC 45 and TFC 45 R models, which are popular in some markets. Our portfolio is therefore becoming considerably clearer and more demand-oriented. In addition, the Liftace reach stackers build on the strengths of the Terex legacy brands PPM and Fantuzzi and combine these with many innovations. The result is mature machines that are state of the art and that we can also adapt to individual customer requirements, with a view to higher load capacities.“
Proximity to customers and demand
The new Liftace reach stackers are manufactured at the French site of TPS in Montceau-les-Mines. The machines destined for the Asian market are manufactured at TPS in Xiamen, China. Klaus Peter Hoffmann, Vice President & Managing Director Terex Port Solutions: “Our philosophy is to be as close as possible to the market in question. This applies particularly to our global sales and service organization but, naturally, to production, too. It is therefore possible for us to develop our product range locally according to demand.”
