Terex Trucks and Volvo CE join forces in France

The 64th Congress of SIM (Society of Mineral Industry) which was held in Mons (Belgium) was an opportunity for Volvo Construction Equipment and Trucks Terex to announce the joining of their resources in order to revitalise sales and service of Terex Trucks Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT)

Paul Douglas, Director and General Manager of Terex Trucks and Jean-Marie Osdoit – President and CEO of Volvo CE France, signed the official agreement at Bauma this week.

Terex Trucks became a division of Volvo CE in June 2014, but has suffered from poor dealer performance and brand representation in France. With the sluggish economy and limited market, Terex Trucks and Volvo CE has decided to join forces to revitalise the Terex Trucks brand across the region. To achieve most success the articulated trucks will be managed directly by the Terex Trucks team, while the rigid dump trucks will be promoted by the Volvo CE sales team based in France.

However Volvo CE will service both the ADT and RDT trucks from 5 "Terex Trucks Service Centers", which will open in areas across France early 2016.

INDEPENDENT...WHILE BEING INTEGRATED

Despite the desire to put Terex Trucks on the front of the stage, Volvo CE ensures that there will be no competition between both brands:

"The aim is not to cannibalise the brands" warns Jean-Marie Osdoit, president of Volvo CE France. "Volvo CE wants to keep its market share, but Terex Trucks must return to the front of the stage. Therefore Terex Trucks remains independent but is still very much integral in the Volvo Group."

And at Terex Trucks, what do they say?

"You could not ask for a better solution," says Jean-Frédéric Henry, Commercial Director for Western Europe at Terex Trucks. "We start from a blank page. The joint efforts of Terex Trucks and Volvo CE remains perfectly rational and as Jean-Marie Osdoit states the goal is to revive Trucks Terex while serving the interests of the Volvo Group."
