The 11LC160 crane exceeds expectations

Alliance Riggers & Constructors is a reputable company based in El Paso, Texas, USA, specialized in steel erections at construction jobsites. To diversify its business of service and rental of mobile cranes, last year they decided to create a new division of tower cranes, with the idea of offering them for rent to local construction companies.

After analyzing the needs of the local market and determining which size and configuration of tower crane were most appropriate, Alliance Riggers & Constructors decided to launch its fleet of tower cranes by acquiring a Linden Comansa flat-top 11LC160, with maximum load capacity of 8 tonnes (17,640 lb).

The first work of this crane was not for rent to another company, but a steel erection work for Alliance Riggers & Constructors itself: the first phase of the construction of the Sierra Providence West Medical Center, a hospital of nearly 28,000 square metres (300,000 square ft).

The first surprise for Alliance Riggers & Constructors was the speed and ease of assembly of the 11LC160, thanks to its modular design without pendant lines. And the second surprise was the productivity shown on the erection of steel structures, which enabled Alliance Riggers & Constructors to double almost every day the number of steel beams placed in the building compared with the use of a crawler crane, as they have previously done.

In addition, the Linden Comansa crane brought more advantages for Alliance Riggers & Constructors: the 11LC160 has an optimal cabin position, which allows the operator to have a better view of the workspace; and the crane resulted in a cost savings since it does not require maintenance or daily lubrication, as it is by a crawler crane.

After the success of the Linden Comansa crane in the Sierra Providence West Medical Center hospital jobsite, Alliance Riggers & Constructors plans to use the 11LC160 in new projects of steel erection, so local contractors will have to wait in line to use the Linden Comansa crane in more common applications for this type of machinery, such as residential or commercial construction.
