The Lely hook tine: 50 years contributing to feed quality

In 1965, Lely invented a tedder with a unique hook shaped tine, which made for quicker and cleaner tedding. Farmers all over the world have been happily using this hook tine--with its unique shape and flexibility--for the past 50 years. To this day, this tine has essentially stayed the same. The unique hook tine forms the basis of Lely’s successful pioneering Lotus tedders. At Agritechnica 2015 in Hannover, Lely will focus on this milestone.

The success is in the shape

Timely tedding is important to ensure fast and even drying, to guarantee this, a tedder must pick up and turn crops well. Contamination through soil, manure or old crop remnants is unacceptable. Due to its trailing position, shape and innovative design, the Lotus hook tine is far more flexible that conventional tedder tines. Its’ ground contour adaptability and pick-up capacities excel in this respect. Rotors with hook tines can also work under a large tedding angle; this reduces the space between rotors to a minimum ensuring the whole crop is tedded in an even manner. To further strengthen the rotating effect, the top tine is shorter than the lower one making the final tedding result even better.

The highest capacity for quick drying

Because of its capacity, the Lotus tedder is a must for those trying to obtain the right content of dry matter. For each turn of the rotors, Lely tedders pick up around 50% more than tedders with straight tines. The stable construction of the Lotus tedders easily converts this capacity to speed.

Reliable

The Lely hook tine is known for its long lifespan. Hook tines rarely break. This is something that all Lotus users confirm time and time again. The flexibility, trailing position and of course the choice of quality materials all have a part to play in this.

Lotus tedder range

The Lely Lotus tedders are available in a range of choices and working widths. From mounted to trailed tedders with working widths varying between 3 metres - 15 metres, there is a tedder available for all desired capacities.
