At GaLaBau 2016, the focus of the group is firmly on one topic: zero emission. At the Wacker Neuson Group stand (exhibition hall 7, stand 412), visitors can see all the emission-free product solutions from the brands Wacker Neuson and Kramer live in application, and receive comprehensive information.

Zero emission, full power: This is what Wacker Neuson and Kramer's presentation at this year's GaLaBau in Nuremberg (September 14–17) is all about. At the trade fair, the group will show how gardening and landscaping companies can accomplish a wide range of tasks in an environmentally and operator-friendly manner using emission-free solutions. "Gardening and landscaping is traditionally one of our core target groups because they can make use of virtually our entire product and service range. We are all the more pleased that we can offer product solutions with our zero emission series, which is unique to the market. These are especially well-received in environmentally-focused industries," reports Jan Willem Jongert, CSO of the Wacker Neuson Group.

The zero emission series with the green "e" currently comprises six machines: Two battery-powered rammers, one dual power excavator, two electric wheel loaders as well as one electrically operated track dumper.

A special highlight at the trade fair is the winner of this year's bauma innovation award in the "machine" category: the Kramer e-loader 5055e. It features 0.6 m³ of bucket capacity and is the first fully electric wheel loader on the market. It scores well thanks to its environmental credentials and its economic efficiency. The initially high investment costs are amortized in no time due to the significantly lowered maintenance costs. The performance parameters, off-road capability and operating comfort correspond to the conventional model.

Kramer places a great deal of value during design and development on the coordination of elements and components to allow for precise driving. Two electric motors for the drive system and work hydraulics are built into the e-loader, which are supplied by either a lead-acid battery or a lead-fleece battery. Depending on the area of work application and load, one battery charge suffices for deployments of up to five hours. The charge time is between six and eight hours, depending on the chosen battery and battery charger.

The Wacker Neuson battery-powered rammers introduced in 2015 are immensely popular. They show off their strengths especially in trench-based applications. The battery, which can be used independently of the model, can be removed without tools, which enables the operator to exchange the uncharged battery with a new one in a few simple steps. The engine starts easily at the touch of a button at any temperature. The low operating costs are another advantage because the engine is completely maintenance-free. In addition, around 55 percent of the energy costs can be saved by operating with electricity. "The battery-powered rammers are very well-received on the market. This concept makes a lot of sense, especially in deep trenches, because the operator is not exposed to any emissions." This advantage is unique to the market and is being rewarded by BG Bau with the EuroTest award for both models as part of Bauma. In addition, those purchasing one of these battery-powered rammers will be rewarded with a very attractive occupational safety premium. "We are currently working on a longer battery run time, which we will be launching on the market in the first half of 2017. This will make these products even more attractive. We see a great deal of growth potential in this technology and will therefore continue to expand our zero emission series," continues Jan Willem Jongert.

Companies involved in gardening and landscaping require flexible machines that are compact and yet powerful at the same time. Work often takes place in confined areas or on sensitive surfaces. Thanks to its low width of just 80 cm, the electric track dumper DT10e is perfect here. With a payload of 1,000 kg, it is ideal for transporting soil, gravel or sand. Gradients are also no problem for the dumper: With a loaded bucket, its gradeability is 20 degrees (36 percent).

The performance parameters of the fully electrically driven Wacker Neuson wheel loader WL20e correspond to those of the diesel-operated wheel loader and were even exceeded in some areas, such as within the range of the tipping load, which reaches up to 1,509 kg thanks to the counterweight of the battery. A lead acid battery is used, which is time-tested and proven in the industrial sector. With a height of 2.25 meters and a width of just over one meter, low and narrow passages or transporting on a trailer is also no problem for the electric wheel loader. Once the battery is fully charged, the wheel loader is ready to be deployed for at least five hours - enough time for typical work applications, such as loading and transporting goods over short distances. With operating cost savings of more than 40 percent over the service life of the machine, the electric wheel loader also offers economic advantages.

With the dual power option, the 803 mini-excavator from Wacker Neuson can be connected to the HPU8 external electro-hydraulic power unit. The excavator is thus operated completely free of emissions if necessary - and is easy to handle as well. For work in residential areas or urban green areas, the operator can drive it with the diesel engine from the truck to the site. The generator can easily be brought along thanks to the transport bracket.

Many companies from the gardening and landscaping sector already understand the advantages of emission-free machines. "The products from the zero emission series are our response to the wishes of our customers," says Jan Willem Jongert. "The demand for emission-free machines has risen greatly in recent years and will continue to grow. Things get even more interesting with our flexible range of services: customers can lease the products from our national rental park at no obligation, finance them flexibly or have professional maintenance performed on their machine after deciding to purchase."
