Thanks to their permanent lubrication, the Wacker Neuson RT 56 SC-2 and RT 82 SC-2 universal rollers achieve longer operating times than were possible before. As there is no longer any need to change the oil in the lower body over the entire service life of the machine, overall time and costs for maintenance are reduced and operation becomes much more efficient. What is more, a more robust exciter motor improves the operating balance of the rollers.
Always ready for operation thanks to permanent lubrication
With the new universal rollers from Wacker Neuson, building contractors can give their full attention to their work, without worrying about maintenance intervals: the drive gear that is located in the lower body and the gearbox and ball bearings in the vibration-generating exciter are given high-quality permanent lubrication in this new model generation. This means that the two regular, time-consuming maintenance steps that used to be necessary over the lifetime of the roller can now be dispensed with. Previously it was necessary to renew the lubricating oil for these heavily stressed mechanical components regularly based on the number of operating hours. Now maintenance of the RT 56 SC-2 and RT 82 SC-2 rollers is limited to just one annual hydraulic oil change and replacement of the hydraulic return filter.
Oliver Kolmar, product manager for soil and asphalt compaction, explains: "Ever since our first model generation was introduced to the market 20 years ago, our universal rollers have been among our most popular and best-selling roller models. Following numerous developments, we are now offering our customers another considerable increase in productivity with a maintenance-free lower body that is unique on the market. If they schedule their annual maintenance during the winter months, operators are able to count on this roller throughout the entire construction season."
An additional improvement is provided by the more robust housing fitted to the exciter motor, which further increases durability and reliability, even in continuous operation under arduous construction-site conditions. This also helps to ensure longer operating times over the lifetime of the machine.
Remote control ensures safety
RT SC 2 rollers are moved using a convenient and intuitive remote control system. This means that the operator is not subjected to either harmful vibrations or exhaust fumes and dust. For compaction in trenches, it also allows him to position himself outside the trench, allowing the roller to compact right up to the edge even in very tight excavation sites. Further protection for the operator and construction site workers is provided by the infrared data transmission. If the line of sight between the roller and the operator's remote control is obstructed or if the distance becomes too great, the roller immediately stops. It also switches itself off if the proximity recognition sensor detects that the safety distance between the roller and the operator is insufficient.
A universal pro: top performance on any terrain
Thanks to their robustness and performance capabilities, the RT 56 SC and RT 82 SC are truly universal machines: with their outstanding compaction performance, they can be used to compact the lower subbase of foundations, roads and parking lots, as well as excavations for laying supply lines for example. Their sheepsfoot drums and high vibration speed allow them to compact even cohesive soils with ease. The machines' low center of gravity and twist-proof articulated joint protect them from tipping over on steep inclines and provide for good maneuverability. This allows the machine to work quickly and seamlessly around manhole covers and other rounded elements.
