Vätterbygdens Kran AB Expands Services with Demag® AC 250-5 All Terrain Crane

Vätterbygdens Kran AB of Jonkoping, Sweden, is expanding its range of services with the addition of a newly commissioned Demag® AC 250-5 all terrain crane. The 250-tonne (300 US ton) crane has a main boom length of 70 m (229.7 ft), a 21-m (68.9 ft) folding swing away jib and the IC-1 Plus control system. Vätterbygdens Kran has already put the Demag crane to work lifting and placing a massive transformer.

Vätterbygdens Kran selected the Demag AC 250-5 because it combines power and an impressive load chart in a compact 5-axle crane design, making transportation and positioning easy. For several jobs the crane can also be used as a taxi crane.

The IC-1 Plus control system calculates lifting capacities for every position of the boom subject to the slewing angle of the superstructure. That way Vätterbygdens Kran’s operators can increase lifting capacity while using less counterweight compared to 360° capacities. This results in reduced transport costs. In addition, the one engine concept reduces maintenance and fuel costs.

The Demag AC 250-5 crane is now the largest model in Vätterbygdens Kran’s fleet of 10 mobile cranes. Adding this crane enables the company to take on larger projects and grow its customer base.
