RAUCH introduces VarioSmart, the first speed control system for mechanically driven fertiliser spreaders, enabling precise, remote-controlled disc speed adjustment without hydraulic connections.
-
The system combines hydraulic precision with mechanical efficiency, offering up to 30% energy savings and reducing CO2 emissions by up to 8,200 kg per machine over its lifetime.
-
VarioSmart delivers sharp-edged boundary spreading with fast response times and integrates with GPS-controlled SectionControl to minimize overlap in complex fields.
-
Recognized for innovation, RAUCH received the silver medal at Agritechnica, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable and efficient agricultural technology.
With VarioSmart – a spreading disc drive system with speed control – RAUCH Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH is revolutionising precision technology in agriculture. The VarioSmart system from RAUCH is the world's first speed control system for mechanically driven fertiliser spreaders. It combines the precision of hydraulic technology with the efficiency of a purely mechanical drive. It enables stepless, remote-controlled speed control of the spreading discs directly from the tractor cab – without any additional hydraulic connection.
RAUCH will be awarded the silver medal of the Innovation Award at Agritechnica for this groundbreaking development. This prestigious award underscores the company's innovative strength and technological leadership.
Environmental regulations require sharp-edged fertiliser application, precisely at the field boundary or edge. Conventional systems such as TELIMAT, which are based on deflection by means of a deflector plate, reach their physical limits here. RAUCH meets this challenge with independent speed control for mechanically operated spreaders, the new VarioSmart system for the AXIS series with conventional PTO drive.
Intelligent technology meets robust construction
At the heart of the VarioSmart is a hydraulically controlled multi-disc clutch system, which uses an integrated crescent pump and a highly dynamic proportional pressure control valve to regulate the spreader disc speed independently and continuously between 300 and 1100 rpm. Control is carried out directly from the tractor cab via ISOBUS terminals – including feedback and control stability even during dynamic load peaks in the drive system. A specially encapsulated 9-litre oil tank and an axial fan ensure thermal stability and maintenance-free operation.

Border spreading with maximum precision – without a hydraulic connection to the tractor
Thanks to torque-controlled slip control, VarioSmart produces a steep-sided, sharply defined spread pattern – comparable to hydraulic systems, but with up to 30% higher drive efficiency. This means lower diesel consumption, fewer CO2 emissions and no additional load on the tractor's hydraulic system. In combination with GPS-controlled SectionControl, the spreading width is also automatically adjusted at the headland – ideal for reducing overlapping in complex field shapes.
Customer benefits: Efficiency, environmental awareness and cost-effectiveness in harmony
