Five fourteen tonne EC140D’s and three larger EC220E’s  have been purchased by Chandos Civil Engineering specifically to service a ten year house building project right on the Company’s doorstep at Cheadle Hume, Greater Manchester. “We decided to opt for the new Volvos mainly because of the good reputation they have for reliability, performance and operator acceptance in the market place,” explains Director Danny Molloy. “Reliability, with a robust after sales support infrastructure are key criteria when we are providing our full portfolio to the country’s leading house builders and so far we’ve been very pleased with our decision to opt for the Volvo brand,” he continues.

The Volvo EC140D and EC220E excavators are powered by Volvo four and six cylinder engines developing 114 and 174hp respectively which contribute to an excellent performance being well matched to the machines’ hydraulics. The ‘Integrated work mode control’ provides high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption.  This advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.

The Volvo Care Cab offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14 vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy to read LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a monitor for the rear view camera.

The new machines are all incremental to the Chandos Civil Engineering fleet which includes some 30 plus items of plant including excavators and site dumpers.  They have been supplied complete with Volvo Blue Service agreements ensuring that they will be maintained by qualified Volvo trained  service technicians using genuine Volvo parts.

Established in 2002, the family run business has evolved as a major groundworks and civil engineering business based at Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester serving the north and north west of England, Yorkshire and the Midlands.  Employing 200 personnel, the Company has a £20M turnover and is continuing to expand its client portfolio in the domestic housing, industrial and municipal building sectors.

Volvo Construction Equipment Division markets wheeled loaders, articulated haulers, hydraulic excavators, graders, Volvo utility equipment and Volvo road equipment products in Great Britain. There are eight strategically placed customer support centres and a network of utility equipment dealers to ensure high quality customer support is maintained throughout the country.
